Hi, i just found a bug on my Shd. When i play thru volumio Spotify connect, Suddenly the left and right channel switches. It all gets switched around soundwise.

I just noticed this in volumio not sure this happens when using other sources. Like mye tv, not tried IT with roon or tidal yet.

May just be volumio, i can get IT to switch back to the way the left and right should be, when i switch tracks in volumio with Spotify connect thru ny phone rapidly back and forth. What can be causing this problem?

At that time I thought that there was something connected to Roon - Dirac - SHD and since Roon is still "not official" I was expecting to be solved with the certified release. However some days ago, I had again a channel switch again and it had nothing to do with Dirac since I have to run measurements for a lot of time. Now you report the same thing through Volumio.

It's a very strange bug and I don't understand how it can be replicated. My way out is to restart SHD.

I do get this when i use external control points, like Spotify connect noe i listen that you get IT thru roon connect to. Maybe this is a corroupt things because of external link and sync problems. I do not get it, with my tv connectet via toslink. And when i use Tidal thru volumio with my PC inside the browser. IT is something that must be fixed, i had to end my Spotify account cause of this. And have gone Tidal for noe, Hope this problem does not show up with Tidal. Cause then i can just use the streaming capabilities and just sell this unit.

Where can i submit this too the Dev team? The problem occurs when i use Spotify connect, and can be fixed when i rapidly change the song too play back from the start. This is also something that i can do to make this problem occur faster.

This is also reporter by another user using external control points like roon connect and. I used Spotify connect.

I have the exact same issue.
Randomic L/R switches using volumnio and spotify connect (controlling via Spotify app).
It is unpredictable and it happens with randomic frequence, when one starts any track.

Nope. But don't narrow it down to spotify only. I am using Tidal--> Roon --> SHD and I have the same issue some times. It is frustrating that I cannot find a scenario to reproduce it.

I opened a support ticket.
I think it is pretty serious issue. We are talking of a 1500eur hifi gear that makes me hear strings on the wrong side!

Hope that minidsp could address it quickly.

Well done, please share any feedback please. I am worried that without a reproduction scenario it would be difficult to focus the problem. It is just a handful of users reporting it. Let's hope that it can be resolved.

In my case the reproduction is easy.
I keep a test track on my favs on spotify with voices that say "I should come from the left speaker... Etc".
If i select any other track to be played on my favourites and then I reselect the test track, it happens (randomly, but not far from 50% of the times) that the voices are switced left/right.

By the way, i received the feedback from Minidsp to my request.

"...We've had a look at this issue here in the office and been able to reproduce the event in some specific case scenario (i.e. not widespread case so was had to reproduce). We've worked on the past few weeks to modify the ARM core code and believe that we now have a fix. A new beta volumio build is now ongoing and solved the issue. We hope to release it in the coming 2weeks. Your GUI will warn you of the info so stay tuned for updates from Volumio..."

Seems like they fixed the issue. Let's see how it will go with the new Volumio.

Thanks everyone for this thread. I encountered this issue a few times with my Roon Essentials setup and it was driving me crazy. I even started changing around cables only to find the channels would switch back at a later time. Good to know I am not crazy.

I updated SHD STUDIO's firmware and plugins to the latest yesterday. (SHD Plugin v1.12, SHD Firmware v1.18) I just confirmed that the Volumio plugin is also up to date. However, there is still a bug in which the L and R channels are switched.

I mainly use SHD via roon, once the bug occurs, I have to remove the DC plug and reconnect it to get back to normal.

Don't know what to think... One month ago Minidsp support team told me that soon they would have updated the Volumio plugin, solvin' the issue. Today I just received their II quarter newsletter stating:

Firmware/Plugin updates
- SHD Series: A major update was released for the Volumio build under v1.052. Please make sure to update to benefit from the great improvements.

Very excited I tried to update, with no success.
I check my current version of Volumio plugin and obviously I didn't succed: my version is the v1.052... SINCE FEBRUARY!!!
So I don't see the point of putting this in a newsletter.
