I just purchased a brand new SHD. I've followed all instructions. The SHD can stream music via Volumio and can play music via it's multiple inputs audibly through my stereo system. I then hooked up the SHD to my iMac Pro via USB. I have an iMac Pro running Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6. I've upgraded the firmware of the SHD to v6.F2. My mac recognizes the device in "Audio/Midi Setup". I've downloaded the current version of MiniDSP SHD DSP Version 1.8d2. I've downloaded Dirac Live 2.3.0 Build 242-d3109be6. Both the SHD DSP software AND the Dirac Live V2.3 cannot find the device. On the Dirac Live, I scan and get the message "No Devices Found". On the SHD DSP plugin when I hit connect I get a dialog saying "Cannot connect to the system. The 1st time Retry... the 2nd time Retry.." until it finally says "Cannot Connect to DSP. Please plug in the board". I have gone to System Preferences - Sharing - and turned on File Sharing. I even clicked "options" in the file sharing tab and selected all 3 available options. I've made sure that only the SHD DSP software OR the Dirac Live V2.3 were open on their own (both softwares were not open at the same time per instructions in the manual). I'm using the included USB cable, but I've also tried another cable and another usb port in my computer. Very frustrating... any help would be great! Thanks!

UPDATE!!! Sorry everyone..... I just realized there is a section in the Dirac Live V2 Manual that says you have to open SHD plugin first then hit the "Start Dirac Live Software" button. I tried this.... didn't work... then I quit that app and the dirac live app and opened just the SHD app and hit that same button again and it found it! Hope this helps someone in the future!

I believe you need to be using Dirac 2.2.3 not 2.3.

Hi

Try this.

1.
Erase and reinstall all drivers and plugin for shd.

2.
Then plug in shd via usb to you mac

3.Power cycle the shd, and

......as soon as its fully reloaded....
then restart your mac....

All in that order. And everything should sync up.

If you installed everything correctly with the correct drivers for the Mac (not windows versions ... (Which I have done on a couple occasions..lol) you should be syncing up without a problem .

Also make certain that the USB cable is secure on the back of the SHD unit . I have found that sometimes they wiggle out just the tiniest bit, and then you get that little message that says it can't find the board. make sure it's pushed in all the way and if necessary also try a different cable and usb port.

^This probably isn't necessary and won't resolve the issue. There is a known problem with using Dirac 2.3 and 2.2.3 should be used instead:

www.minidsp.com/forum/announcements/16548-new-dirac-2-0-build

Edit: final post of link is someone saying they've got 2.3 to work but given the OP's issues I think I'd still try 2.2.3 as a first step.

Ok. Thanks to everyone who's responded. So I thought I had nipped this in the bud but apparently not. With Dirac V2.3.0 I was finally able to get Dirac Live to recognize my SHD. I started the setup process and got all the way to setting the mic volume which seemed to not respond to the incoming pink noise. But I moved the fader up until I saw the green zone on both the left and right channels (though they were exactly identical which caused some pause). Anyway I went to the next step and it sent the measurement signal and when it was done it gave me an error message saying that the data was not recorded. At this point I went back to the beginning of Dirac Live and selected the microphone from my computer just to see if I got the same problem and error, which I did.... :( So, I uninstalled everything. Reinstalled SHD 1.8d2 and then downloaded and installed Dirac Live V2.2.3 as Ulitrasonic suggested. I also, did what amirsag suggested in the order in his post. Now when I open SHD and hit the "Start Dirac Live Software" it opens Dirac Live V2.2.3. I log in and and scans my system and cannot find device. I also hit the "connect" button at the top right of MiniDSP SHD 1.8d2 and it gives me the "Cannot connect to the system. The 1st time Retry... the 2nd time Retry.." until it finally says "Cannot Connect to DSP. Please plug in the board". I double checked the Audio/Midi page in System Preferences and my Mac recognizes both my SHD and the UMIK-1. Not sure where to go from here. Shouldn't the MiniDSP SHD plugin be able to connect to it's own device?

I suspect the issue is that you aren't quiting Dirac Live before trying to connect to the SHD?

It sounds like you may not have read the Dirac Live 2.0 User Manual Supplement? Do so :) .

My little uninstall/reinstall did correct this issue for me. I had a corrupted or bad initial install. But, I do agree with "Ultrasonic" ...regarding 2.2.3 version... 2.3 would not work no matter what I tried. . FWIW, I moved everything from my Mac about 3 weeks after I purchased my shd, and purchased a dedicated " for audio use only " i7 Asus notebook, deleting everything off it and installed Roon / antivirus (& win 10) It seemed easier to get everything to jive in windows/ with ASIO driver. But that's just my opinion..dont want to turn this thread into a mac v pc debate. :)

OK. Ultrasonic, I did read that part of the 2.0 User Manual and made sure both SHD and Dirac were quit, then I opened SHD and then from SHD clicked the button to open Dirac. But since my last post, I uninstalled everything, unplugged everything and plugged everything back in and reinstalled everything including Dirac V2.2.3. Finally Dirac saw my SHD device and I am able to select it and I get the green notifications telling me my SHD is connected as well as my UMIK-1. I load the preset to the UMIK-1 I select it and click on volume calibration. Now I run into trouble again. I don't see anything happening on the Mic Gain channel on the screen. I can get pink noise to play from both the left and right speaker. i can adjust the output volume but nothing is happening on the mic gain channel. I don't see the small level indicator to the right of the db meter at all (I've seen this move up and down in videos on youtube). Is it maybe a faulty microphone? I've unplugged and plugged it back in. The software recognizes it's there. This system is very touchy finicky so I've tried different cables. Can't seem to get signal in the mic. Any ideas? Thank you all so much!!!

I'm running the same machine as you and had it connected the other day. I'll try again in a minute. To be clear, when you run the plugin you get the "three tries and can't connect" message?

It connects for me straightaway. I'm running a USB-C hub from MBP, 1.8m regular USB cable to the SHD. Is that how you are (physically) connected to your SHD Studio? I'm not sure what to suggest TBH.

[Edit: I just realized I'm on 10.15.2, not sure why I'm not picking up 10.15.3.]
