Moved speakers and decided to redo Dirac on SHD. Noted when I started Dirac a message about a new version available and "click here". So I clicked there but nothing happened. Huh.

Closed Dirac, went to their website and downloaded the new version (Windows version). Installed fine, started fine, but every time I try to adjust gain levels it hangs while playing the white noise or pink noise, whatever that is. Pops up an error message about an error on the SHD. Have to close Dirac, and go to the MiniDSP control app (from where I launched Dirac) and click Connect, then choose another preset in order to stop the white noise.

Tried multiple times, rebooted computer and the SHD etc but always hangs at some point during level adjustments. This is Dirac 2.3.0. The previous version - 2.2.3 (I think, or 2.2.0) worked just fine.

Anyone else seeing this?

Cheers,
Robert

@Robert:

We had tested the gain adjustment function (master volume and channel volume) in Dirac 2.3 Windows version but cannot reproduce the hang issue.

Are you referring to gain adjustment using front panel volume knob? Adjusting the front volume knob while using software will break the usb connection and the software will cease to work so is not recommended.

However, if you are using the software volume slider in the Dirac Live GUI, it would be a software problem and you may need to get in touch with us through tech support to further troubleshoot the issue.

Hope this info helps.

Thanks for the information. I'll try again on the weekend, perhaps if it continues to fail I'll revert back to the previous version to check if that resolves it or not. Either way I'll reply back my findings and possibly open a tech call.

I was not touching the physical volume knob, was using the onscreen slider for left channel level to bring it into the green during the test tone. The little circular timer on the test tone kept freezing partway through, at different times, and the tone would continue until I went back to the MiniDSP control app and told it to connect, then change preset.

I'll also report the actual error message that happens in Dirac when this happens.

Cheers,
Robert

Oddly I got that hanging with Dirac 2.2.3 but not with 2.3.
2.2.3 was giving minidsp shd internal error 10003 I think.

Make sure you are not on LAN source setting, as I found what you described happened to me until I changed the source. Had me baffled for a while.

Yep, I'm aware of that issue but it was not the case here. I didn't get a chance to look at it again on the weekend as planned but as soon as I do or learn anything more I'll update this thread.

Cheers,
Robert
