Trying to launch the firmware update tool(XMOS_Firmware) on my Mac (running Catalina), and getting the following error message:

The application “miniDSP USB DFU” can’t be opened.

Can someone help?

Possibly not relevant to Mac but on Windows you get a similar error if you don't install the USB audio drivers first, because they switch between Audio and DFU classes on demand.

I have excately same problem now on my Mac, trying to update the firmware from a 2x4HD to a DDRC-24.

Hi,

on macOS it is due to missing execution permission of the binary in the app iteself.

Simply open a terminal and and navigate inside the application like:

cd ~/Downloads/SHD_v1_7_Dirac2_backend_v1_3/XMOS_Firmware/Firmware_Upgrade_Tools/Mac/miniDSP\ USB\ DFU.app/Contents/MacOS

Then type:

chmod +x ./miniDSP\ USB\ DFU


After that you should be able to start the app normally

What about Dirac live. I do remember both were not supported earlier.

Dear all,

The issue was due to the DFU loader. Have a trial again, the new DFU loader does support catalina.
Please note that Dirac live doesn't support Catalina at this stage. Only Mojave.

Well, yes that's what we said.. There is an update to the DFU loader for catalina (i.e. only for firmware upgrade).
maybe download it and test it? No need to worry, you're not going to break anything..

Thanks you. But its difficult to roll back to Mojave in case it does not work on Catalina.

Whats the Firmware version for the SHD.
Mine says v6.F2. Is this the current firmware for the SHD?
