Still thinking to buy SHD and now Amazon comes up with HD Music offer which seems to be very nice as a combination.
Is it possible to use on the SHD or planned to realize?
Seems that volumio itself has no plugin yet.
It would be great to hear that it works. Can anyone answer to this?

Regards, Lars

Your question is best directed to the Volumio people. The MiniDSP folks really have nothing to do with Volumio capabilities...

Cheers,
Robert

I subscribe to Amazon HD. I have several DLNA/UPnP systems in the house, including two using Volumio. I have yet to find a way to direct an Amazon stream to any DLNA or OpenHome system. Amazon seems to be a crippled system in that regard.

continue to ask them. it took them also more than a year to add chromecast support to the Prime Video app (despite many 1 star ratings due to this), so apparently they like to keep their systems closed

Hi, if there is no Volumio plugin available, try an Amazon music converter to download and save Amazon songs to the computer. And then, you can listen to Amazon Music on the computer via a Volumio music player.

Just got my SHD and I have been experimenting with inserting a HDMI audio extractor to an Amazon 4k Fire Stick. I have the coaxial output from the audio extractor going into the SPDIF input of the miniDSP SHD. The 4k Fire Stick is capable of outputting UHD and the TV it is plugged into does show the higher resolution. In reviewing the Q/A section of the audio extractor, it does appear to be capable of outputting up to 24/192 via it optical and coaxial outputs.

However, I am not clear what the SHD is 'seeing'. Is there a a way to display on the SHD what type of signal it is receiving?

I am not aware of any way to directly verify bit depth or sample rate with the SHD. That being said there are some things you can do.

I have not found suitable files in the Amazon Music HD library but IF you could find a 1 kHz 0 dBfs test tone with 24 bit depth you could use the REW's RTA function with the SHD as a recording device to measure THD+N which should be around -130 dB. If you see something around -96 dB it is likely limiting to 16 bit. That being said I have only been able to find 16 bit / 44.1 kHz test tones in the Amazon Music HD library. Similarly IF you could find a sweep from 20 Hz to 48 kHz in Amazon Music HD you could verify that the response does indeed go to 48 kHz which would indicate it is correctly passing a 96 kHz signal. Again I have not found anything like this (only 20 Hz to 20 kHz sweeps).

If the HDMI extractor is your primary concern the tests are a bit easier.. For example if you had a computer that had a HDMI output you could use REW to generate a 24 bit 1 kHz test tone via HDMI and then extract an SPDIF signal to the SHD and use the SHD as a recording device to measure THD+N as described above. Similarly you could run a measurement sweep from 1 Hz to 48 kHz with REW via HDMI and measure the result with the SHD.
