Got my SHD (not Studio) and a WI-DG a couple of weeks ago but started playing with yesterday.
My setup is Mac, SHD, wireless network and cheapo speakers for now.

I successfully configured the WI-DG as a station point and network detects it and has an IP assigned to it.

I hooked up the WI-DG to the USB port of SHD (same cable as the one that powers the WI-DG). I cannot get into the SHD via http://minidsp-shd or minidsp-shd.local.

Then I powered the WI-DG with a separate USB power source and added a USB (male to male) cable between the WI-DG and SHD. Still no go to get to Volumino browser interface.

Next, I removed the WI-DG entirely and connected the SHD to my network via ethernet. http://minidsp-shd worked on my mac which is wirelessly connected to the router!

However, I need to be able to connect to the SHD via wi-fi. Both Mac and Wi-DG are on the same network.

I tried Dirac Live 2.0 and the tool does not find any devices, not unexpectedly.

I have also read through the SHD user manual a couple of times and in section '5.4.2 Getting connected – Wi-Fi' there is mention of a wi-fi 'dongle' that should come with SHD. This item was not included in my shipment. I thought the WI-DG would make this dongle un-necessary but I am not sure any more.

Where do I go from here? thanks!

WI-DG is a network interface to USB bridge. It is to allow the control of SHD via network interfaces instead of a USB 2.0 connection, but doesn't include Dirac measurement. Dirac measurement requires a wired connection between your computer & SHD.

WiFi connectivity for music streaming or to mount network music library in Volumio requires either a Ethernet connection, or a USB Wi-Fi dongle that is plugged into the USB host port.

I remember reading it in certain miniDSP's material that this Wi-Fi dongle is included in new order that is shipped after mid-late Aug 2019. I guess yours is shipped before that and therefore without the Wi-Fi dongle, which you can normally get it for $10-15 on amazon.
