Hello DevTeam,

since the SHD Studio has obviously no standby or power-switch (why btw?) -
is there a problem to turn of energy by a switchable socket? Can it harm the device?

Thank you in advance

Anyone who can give me a clue?

I feel a little uncomfortable with the SHD being always on....

Should be OK, but not sure how the streamer will behave if you do this during playing music from an attached USB drive. Devteam can you confirm?

I didn't intend to "kill" it during playing or something like that. :)
Just when I go to bed (e.g.) and turn off the rest of the equipment I don't want to leave the SHD on power the whole time.

I still don't get it, why it has no stand-by mode...

It only draws a couple of watts. You probably have numerous devices in your home that stay on all the time.

Yes I would also LOVE to be able to turn of or at least dim the screen on my SHD Studio. That does not seem possible today, right?

My other devices (Auralic, PS Audio) all have this capability; you can manually dim / turn off, and set the screen to automatically dim x seconds after usage. When pressing remote buttons or using app, the screens come on. I REALLY hope MiniDSP can add this, with a firmware update maybe? Thanks much in advance!

Hi!
This little tool is what I am looking for except that it has the aforementioned shortcomings.
If it could be turned off (even with a remote control) and the display could be dimmed I would buy it immediately and I see I'm not alone.
This is a pretty regrettable deficiency, even though the device works super.

The shortcomings and deficiencies? You guys are too funny. :)

The power "issue" is not a deficiency at all. As I said, it draws just a couple of watts.
For the bright display, simply put a piece of blue painters tape over it. That will dim it noticeably and still allow reading the display.

The "deficiency" of the SHD units....if there is one....is the associated cost of the Dirac Live licensing and implementation.

But to be concerned with the power usage and the display is just silliness.

Dave.

If you're satisfied with the device then it's good for you.
The possibility of switching on / off should be a very basic function in my opinion in 2019. Yet how much would you increase your manufacturing cost by $ 5-10? I'd be happy to pay $ 50-100 more if I could turn off the device with the remote control, but that might be just me.
Either way, if everyone were happy with what it was, it wouldn't bring much progress to things.
Or does miniDSP want this feature in the 2.0 version? :)

Are these two "issues" a show-stopper for you guys??
If so, I have to wonder about your audio system priorities. My goodness.

I don't understand why you're campaigning for the product.
I think everyone here can decide what to buy and what they don't.

We didn't get a response from the developers why the device could not be turned on/off, but I don't think we're going to, because they simply missed this feature.

Or, by omitting a minimal cost feature, you can't really buy customers, but lose more.
Finally, please respect the priorities of others!

My solution is the use of the SBooster with 90 degrees power connector. See picture. Use it every day to switch the SHD Studio on and off.
