Hi,

For the SHD, is the volume control implemented in the digital domain (pre-DAC) or analogue domain (post-DAC)?

And, how is the noise level of the SHD?

I am asking because I am considering the SHD as a pre-amplifier in an active configuration (removing the passive filter of my speakers) and for various reasons I do a lot of late evening listening on low volume.

Thank you in advance and kind regards,

I use it as a pre amplifier and it is excellent. An in depth review with extensive measurements is available at audio science review.

I believe the volume is digital but I think is 32 bit so it should not affect sound quality. Someone can correct me if I am wrong on that.

It is a great unit as a preamplifier.
