I’d like to stream audio in to the SHD via Ethernet, process it with DIRAC and then output the audio via USB on the SHD to a USB port on my DAC. Is this possible?

Unfortunately I'm afraid that it's not possible. The USB output isn't enabled I'm afraid.

Since the specifications say that the USB supports bidirectional operation- how or when can I achieve this?
From specifications.....”Bidirectional audio / 2ch playback (PC to SHD), 4ch recording post processing (SHD to PC)”

When the SHD is connected to a PC over USB there are 4 audio input channels available which are the post processed data. Any application that accepts audio inputs can access them like any other audio device input.

Thanks John. I see how it’s possible to configure a pc or Mac to specify the SHD as an I/O device. Do you know if would be possible to direct the usb audio output from the SHD to a usb on a dac? My dac allows me to choose its USB input (as opposed to tos, spdif,etc.) generically but not a specific usb device.

No, I don't know how that could be done without some intervening application. Why not just connect the S/PDIF or TOSLink output to the DAC?

I know this an old thread but I'm also interested in USB output from SHD to Schiit Yggy DAC "Unison USB" input.

I believe the DAC in Schiit Yggy is far superior to SHD and I only want to use USB input of Yggy.

OK understood SHD cannot output USB so the only options are other digital outs like AES, S/PDIF that I don't prefer.

Regarding ASR measurements. Everything that measures good does not always sound good IMHO.
In fact I have Oppo UDP-205 that measures better than Yggy and I still prefer Yggy. And after Unison USB upgrade I believe it sounds even better than Oppo.
Sorry don't want to derail the thread but needed to give my opinion.

I agree, these measurments monsters dont always equal great sq. Man the Anthem mrx reciver got butchered at that sure with measurments. But man oh man how good did IT not sound with music.

And yes i would love a USB output function on this shd device for a unison device like Schiit i have had my eyes on for a while.
