Hi

I have my SHD Studio set up and working fine now but only for CD quality and lower resolution files. Higher resolution files play but I only get distortion for sound. I have tried this with both 88kHz and 96kHz, both 24 bit and get distortion with both. I am using Volumio and have updated to the latest version. I have not yet set up Dirac.

My DAC is capable of playing these files and they also work fine when playing through itunes

Any thoughts on why this is?

Are they AIFF files by any chance?

These are all .m4a files (Apple lossless ALAC) playing from NAS via ethernet cable connection

My SHD studio also started distorting certain files, as well. I have played high resolution files quite a lot since getting the SHD and don't recall this being a problem until recently, but the current software update did not fix it.

Mine is a bit different than yours, however. It is only a problem on the USB input. The others are fine. 44khz, 88khz, and 176khz all play without an audible issue. 48khz, 96khz, and 192khz all distort heavily.

Kind of strange.

Just to follow up, the Dev Team got back to me with a fix and it successfully got things working again.

I had to reset the DSP in the computer program and that solved the issue.

The steps they sent me:

Please do the following:
a) Go to the user downloads section on this website (must be signed in).
b) Grab the latest firmware and plugin for your device
c) install the new plugin, install the new firmware.
d) Connect to the device and click the top menu item to get the dropdown "Refresh DSP" to update the DSP. If this fails to improve the issue, return to that drop down and click "Restore to default all". You will lose all programming with this.

The main USB input, or the USB (A) input associated with the LAN??

Interestingly, I only notice the issue using high-resolution files via my USB stick plugged into the LAN input. That made me think it was something associated with Volumio. But, there must be something else going on here.

Were you able to try the steps the dev team gave me that listed above? Apparently a mismatch can happen between the DSP and the firmware. Those steps faced the problem for me.

I've now finally had time to try this but still no luck and the SHD has actually stopped working

I first followed steps a-d as per below

The updates went fine but the distortion when playing high resolution is still there. I therefore proceeded with the next step of the recommendation (If this fails to improve the issue, return to that drop down and click "Restore to default all". You will lose all programming with this). This seems to have crashed the unit with the SHD software now stuck for 30 minutes saying "loading configuration to the board. please do not unplug the board or close the application)

Any thoughts on what I do to first get out of this error message and then again to address the issue with distortion?

I have been able to get the studio to work again but the same problem with distortion persists. I'm on the latest firmware and SHD drivers
