I can't find any information in the user manual or elsewhere about sending discrete remote control commands to select the input source on the SHD. There is a remote control command for "Source", but this just cycles through the sources and is not helpful when programming macros for a universal remote control (like a Harmony). For example, I want to be able to have the SHD go directly to the toslink input when I want to play CDs without knowing what source it is currently on. I must be missing something, since I can't believe that a modern piece of A/V equipment would not have discrete remote control commands.

Can you please tell me if there are discrete IR commands for going directly to a specific input and what these are? If this doesn't exist, the SHD is not going to work for my needs and will need to be returned.

@anpark

Unfortunately we don't have a dedicated command on the current firmware. In the future, we'll make sure to add a new specific IR command for a specific source. It's a simple fix.

@ Anpark

Check out the latest firmware from the user downloads section. It does support unique source selection for say the Harmony remote. You just program the HEX command as below.

IR format: NEC

Src Selection 35 CA 0E F1
Filter On/Off 35 CA 06 F9
Preset 1 35 CA 01 FE
Preset 2 35 CA 02 FD
Preset 3 35 CA 05 FA
Preset 4 35 CA 00 FF
Vol Up 35 CA 0A F5
Vol Dn 35 CA 09 F6
Mute/Unmute 35 CA 0C F3
TOSLINK 35 CA 22 DD
SPDIF 35 CA 23 DC
AES-EBU 35 CA 24 DB
RCA 35 CA 25 DA (for SHD only)
XLR 35 CA 26 D9 (for SHD only)
USB 35 CA 27 D8
LAN 35 CA 28 D7

Please keep us updated if any questions. :-)

You guys are so awesome! This is working perfectly now. I sent the remote control codes you added to Logitech Harmony and they added them to their database so other Harmony customers will get them as well.

THANK YOU!

Glad to hear you're happy and thanks for getting Harmony to add the SHD to the harmony database.
A new app note is now available for others looking to do the same. :-) www.minidsp.com/applications

Hi there, my Moesgo IR hub doesn’t seem to be programmable with any code (nor NEC nor URC).

A nice solution to my problem would be having a key for each source on the SHD plugin, instead of the single “rotative” switch key.

If you have any other idea, pointers are welcome.

TIA, cheers!

You can change the source in Volumio if this helps? You can also change this in the SHD plugin but although you mentioned this I'm not sure it's what you meant?

Maybe I did not give enough information. I was referring to this context:

I need to train the SHD to recognize signals to select specific sources; such commands are going to be part of automations involving different devices. My idea is to have an old, unused IR remote associate a few keys to SHD sources; at that point, I could train my Moesgo hub by using such spare remote.

Hope I've been clear this time, please ask more if I wasn't.

Thank you!

Hi,

Yes that's clear. I'd understood you were trying to use the 'learn' feature but not that this was the only reason you were referring the plugin.

I don't know a solution to what you're trying to do but you could contact miniDSP support via the link at the top of the page.

My comment about Volumio was to suggest an alternative method for changing source that you could use, in case you weren't aware of it.
