There is one issue I haven't been able to solve: there is this crackling noise, that is, usually a single crackle (sometimes quite loud, other times a series of quiet crackles, the type that you hear when you play a vinyl record), between tracks, whatever the source. I initially thought it only happened when I choose a new track by hand, but it also occurs when Volumio plays a whole album without my intervention, off my Synology, for instance, or through the Spotify plugin. This is sounds like some digital distortion problem with the SHD Studio. Has anyone else experienced this? I must say I find it very frustrating.
I am using my Pioneer N50a streamer as my DAC, that is, the signal goes from the Studio to the Pioneer via a coaxial cable, and then analog cables to the amp.

Thanks for this! Would this install the newest version of Volumio? I'd like to keep using Spotify, so I'd rather not have the new Volumio build you mentioned in another thread. Does this make sense?

Well the crackling noise is gone. But I have now problems to upload the Dirac settings to the Studio.

I am experiencing crackling sounds as well on some of my music when using my SHD, I am not sure whether it is related to this problem. Problem does not occur all the time tends to occur on higher resolution files. Can I have the new firware? My current one is SHD_v1_6_fw_v1_10 .

We could be wrong but you're most likely not using either the latest DSP build or the latest volumio build. Here are steps to make sure you're running the latest versions.
- Get the latest SHD plugin from our user downloads. The plugin isn't the firmware. It's the software to be installed on your PC/MAC.
- Once installed, connect, and click Restore - > Refresh DSP program. It will update your DSP binary.
- Also make sure that you're running the latest version from Volumio (can be upgraded from the GUI of Volumio).

I have received my SDH Studio two weeks ago . New. I also have the crackeling noises. I hear them at the end of the playlist. Also when I end a song manually I hear the crackling noise. Indeed like a needle over vinyl.

When a song ends with a moment of silence the crackeling noise comes after the silence. So it's not the last bit of music that crackles.

I get the crackeling noise only when Dirac is active!

I have the latest SHD_v1_6_fw_v1_10 software package and latest Volumio software.



Anything else I can try?

Solved by rebuilding the target curve.

Started with only using Dirac between 30Hz and 70Hz (pulled down the right curtain to 70Hz). Building from that I opened the right curtain in steps up to 2kHz. The problem is gone now.
