I am very interested of your new SHD product. I could imagine many are interested of this for adding for their home theater system as stereo integration. So two very important features surfaces immediately:

- ability to Dirac room correct 2x subwoofers into 2x main speakers
- ability to do "analog input volume bypass (volume at -0dB)

First requirement is quite self explanatory. But second is at least as important, it is the main requirement to integrate stereo setup to home theater setup. In listening mode, volume is obviosly used ad SHD would act as preamp. but in cinema use, volume needs to be bypassed as preamp is done by home theater amplifier/preprocessor.

So are both implemented in SHD?

I asked this question and the devteam mentioned that there is no pure HT Bypass implementation.

I believe all analog signals run through the A/D conversion in the SHD (converted to digital) and would also be subject to the digital attenuation that is required by the EQ (-10dB is the default setting).

You can set the Volume to -0dB on the SHD for the front L/R HT inputs then calibrate your HT, but not sure that it would work technically perfectly as an HT Bypass in a hybrid HT/Music setup. I know someone posted that that's how he uses his SHD and mentioned no adverse results.

Thank for the info! What a dissapointment..Will leave SHD to the shelf because of this. When do minidsp learn to listen customers...

Probably me, I’m running my setup this way. I would prefer if it had a passthrough but it’s really not too bad. When my Harmony remote starts an HT activity it raises the SHD volume to 0 and sets the preset which I configured which just passes through the 2 channels with no filters or Dirac. The processsing that happens in the SHD adds some latency which needs to be compensated for in the HT calibration - in my case when using audessey calibration I find it adds about 15 ft worth of delay to the front speakers.

Once done I can’t say I notice any difference in HT performance. Not a dealbreaker IMO.

"When my Harmony remote starts an HT activity it raises the SHD volume to 0 and sets the preset which I configured"

Does that mean the SHD doesn't maintain volume separately for each input ? (and then isn't there a risk you'll blow your speakers when you switch back to 2 channel ?)

My 2x4HD doesn't do this but was hoping the SHD would.....

it doesn't remember any volume settings, i just have the same activity that raises the volume to 0db on start lower it back down on exit.
