Sounds interesting..
I can't see whether there is a sound improvement compared to DDRC 22D. Can anyone explain if there are some improvements to the sound?

Does the Volumio implementation only support Spotify or can TuneIn and Tidal be supported?

Thanks and best regards...

Very interesting product - it ticks almost all my boxes for a stereo pre-processor with room correction and subwoofer integration :)

I have a couple of questions:

1) my power amplifier has a 12v trigger input, to turn it on remotely. I don't see a 12v trigger output on either of the SHD models. Any suggestions for another method to trigger my power amp? I use a Harmony Elite to control everything right now, but the power amp has no IR receiver, so must rely on being triggered on/off by another device.

2) I have 3 devices with only optical digital outputs. What would be the best way to connect them to a SHD? Any kind of switching solution must work with my Harmony Elite.

Thanks,
Liam

@ Liam

Glad to hear that you like the product. :-)
- Remote trigger: There might be some 3rd party device that would do that .i.e. IR to GPIO 12V out so you could trigger the power amp.
- If you have more than 1 x Toslink source, you'd indeed need a Toslink switch I guess. once again a 3rd party device I'd think.

Well done guys. Possible replacement for my 4x10hd and recently departed DDRC22D.

Great to see XLR's on the balanced outs and two digital outs with delays at 96kHz.

Dirac integrated is a nice to have but good to have a cheaper option excluding Dirac.

Most importantly for me, whats been done to improve analogue performance. AD & DA? I'm currently using an external ADC for analogue sources and an external DAC for main speakers because the analogue performance of the 4x10 is pretty average.

Have you improved the SRC?

Has digital attenuation been improved?

Brilliant job with the WI DG Wifi Bridge BTW. My wife is delighted she no longer has to jump over a USB cable when I'm fiddling :)

@ DNM

Thanks for the feedback and glad to hear that you're happy with your WIDG.. :-)
- Analog in/out was indeed greatly improved with 32bit DAC and much higher performance overall. Please check out user manual for more details.
- On the SHD, Dirac will be provided by default as it was the objective to have an all in one unit ready to go. In the future, we can always consider other options (e.g. removing cost of Dirac Live license)....

@Neslo1108,

- The DDRC-22D is an all digital unit so quite different from the SHD. I guess that the SHD studio is closer to the DDRC-22D. That's quite a lot of improvements in features (front panel, streamer) but in terms of perfomance, hard to beat ~130dB that an all digital solution does. :-)
- For Volumio, it's a great question. There is a great app note from Master John here on Hifizine. www.hifizine.com/2016/06/how-to-stream-t...to-the-raspberry-pi/ It's based on Volumio so should work... :-)

@mrsamsonite

Yes, indeed some great updates as we've now received few boards from our manufacturer. Everything else is in order.
We're hoping to put the SHD on the shopping cart by next week. Stay tuned!

That's great news

The shd is exactly what I've been looking for, so I bought one. Thanks!

Would it be acceptable to place something on top of the unit's chassis? How sensitive would it be to heat or additional weight on top?

Wonderful and thanks for your support @alont!
Sure, not a problem at all to put something on top. Once you receive the unit you'll notice that our enclosures are very sturdy (1.2mm sheet metal). Venting happens on the sides of the unit.

@P.Kosunen

Indeed these are provided with a 19" rack mounting kit. Good call for us to add it to the What's in the BOX section + datasheet. :-)
