Hi there,
I find the AES input fantastic on these devices and will be ordering one to try soon. Love the use of the ICE power modules and Balanced inputs too!
I have a number of options for a USB to AES output which I can use to to go all digital from source (Mac) to PWR-ICE, but so far have only found one option for Surround Sound PreAmps: Meridian...
Meridian's Surround processors have their proprietary digital output connectors, and last I looked, it was possible to create an adaptor or patch cable that goes from their "Speakerlink" (RJ45) to AES. This opens up an all digital to each speaker in a Home Theatre context.
The problem? Meridian gear is VERY expensive!!
Does anyone know of any alternatives?

Few options:
- From a PC source, there is a very good article by Bodzio software showcasing such setup from a PC source running a Lynx card. Really neat work:

It's using their proprietary software which is really advanced when it comes to filtering.

- From the DSP side (i.e. non PC source), I guess that you could always use a nanoDIGI 2x8 (SPDIF outs) and then use SPDIF to AES-EBU adapters. These are simple inline transformers most of the time.
