Yes, we've indeed been very busy.. can you clarify what you mean by new firmware? We've released the Mac update few months ago as a firmware update. No plans at this point of time for new features to be annouced publicly. (i.e. we typically don't talk of R&D on forum to make sure we don't set expectations.

I am interested in this feature too. I am considering this and the similar Hypex 2-ch DSP plate amp for my current hybrid electrostatic speaker project. Auto-standby would be very nice indeed.

I think that if you look at the power consumption of most Class D amps, you'll see that the difference in power consumption between idling and standby is virtually nil. Both are in the milliamps. Most of the time, I't seen it be almost exactly double the standby useage.

Actually, the ICE 125ASX2 has quite large standby power consumption: 9W, or about as much as a modern LED lamp bulb.

By contrast, a whole Anthem MRX A/V receiver has a standby power consumption of about half a watt. (Or, admittedly, 60W if one is short-sighted enough to turn on remote control over HDMI.)

Hah! I guess i should look at the power consumption of the actual unit in question then!

Stand-by and idling are two different things. As mentioned, the PWR-ICE amplifiers don't have a stand-by mode.
I'm just monitoring my PWR-ICE 125 as we speak, and it's drawing 12.1 watts.
That doesn't seem bad to me. There are plenty of items in a typical home drawing that much all the time.

I wonder if the higher idling consumption is related to the hgher current design of the ICE modules. The fact that the ICE modules can double their power output into 4 ohms and even quadruple their output in bridged mode is stellar. No other Class D amp I've ever seen comes close to that level of performance, though I'm open to new suggestions. Even most A/B amps can only do about 3x in bridge mode. It's a pretty big deal, especially in a plate amp driving 4ohm subs.
