Interresting. Curious to know more about noise in these Danley Studio monitors.
@snape6666: it might be the source that is noisy. What about when the source is off or disconnected ?

Hi there. The Danleys are on order so I don't know if they are 'noisy'. I think that Ivan (at Danley) does the setup for the crossover and eq curves. I was curious that miniDSP would have those wires together and not shielded things better.

@xnwrx: No that would be a easy solution^^ i get noise even if there is no source connected at all amps... i only get no noise when i disconnect the dsp (p102) from the amps...

I'm freaking out... This humming is killing me... I have tested the following without success:

- Isolation of the audio cables
- Resistance in the audio cable between DSP and Amp
- Amp grounded
- Amp without grounding
- GND's short circuited in all imaginable combinations
- Power cable with and without ferrite magnet

In all configurations it hums at about 50Hz incl. harmonies without any audio input device connected. It is not loud, but especially in the evening very clearly audible. Watching TV over the system is not possible... Even my wife hears it clearly and is annoyed by it.

@MINIDSP is this serious? For almost 500€ this annoying standing hum... completely outrageous... What else can i do? More ideas?

Hi,
something I would have like to try but didn't have time to : the DSP board is powered by the amp board. You could try to make a small linear power supply to power it in place of the amp power supply.
There is lots of indications about AUX power supply into ICE Power documentation so it should be very easy to do.

A good idea. For now i made it working with a 180 Ohm resitor parallel to both audio signals. Its not a nice solution, but good for now. But ill test the external power supply in a few month, thx for the idea! =)

Hi @xnwrx

Thanks!!!!

This has been a great tip just simply cutting the clip and moving the pwr supply cables away from the P102 wires.

I'm just about to enclose the signal wires in copper tape - do I just ground the copper tape to any point in the chassis - or is there a better point at which to ground the tape?

System has never sounded better!

Jay

Yes, just ground the copper tape. If you still hear any noise try the resistor trick parallely to the audioinput at the amp. But i think 100-150ohm should be enough. I just had a 180ohm, but i still have enough output power left.

Hi all :)
I am a new user of two PWR ICE 125 and I am facing exact the same problems. A 50 Hz or 100 Hz hum (have not figured that out yet) and from time to time an annoying sweeping sound. Up till now I separated the power and the signal cables with no effect. I disconnected all possible ground wires with no effect either.
I did not try the resistor idea nor do I want to solder new shielded signal cables to the boards because I don't want to lose waranty. An extra power supply for the mini isp woul be doable in my case but that would mean extra costs for just another try and error.

I am a little disappointed because I really like the concept, the sound and the usability.

I recorded the noise and opened up a support ticket. I will report the answer here as soon as I got it.

If there will be no solution I'll try to return the units to my dealer and check some other products.

Greetings from Germany

FWIW I have had my 2 pwrice125 devices for 5 years but i use the digital inputs.

I also applied some 3M sheets to reduce noise even further but honestly only gained marginal improvement

Ni problems in all that time with regards to hum or anything else
