I am running pwr-ice125 as a subwoofer amp, using analog left channel as input running in BTL mode. The other day. I noticed I was not getting any output anymore. This coincided with the pwr-ice-FIR plug-in release. During debugging I switched to the FIR version plug-in, and everything was fine. But returning back to the original plug-in, there was still no input level.

To summarize what I found:
- On the regular plug-in, the input level always shows -Infinity, but on the FIR plug-in, I am getting at least -65. I suspect this means the plug-in is stuck in digital input mode.
- I have tried restore to factory default option, which did not change anything.
- I toggled analog/digital, as well as all the other volume control option buttons, but still no input level.
- toggling audio mute does nothing in the original plug-in.

Since I did not change any connections, I think the problem is related to the fact that the input is stuck on digital, and I cannot reset it back to analog. This must mean that the config memory storage on the original plug-in uses a different space than the FIR plug-in?

Is there a way for me to hard reset the board somehow, or do you have any other work-arounds? While I may be using a FIR filter eventually, I am not ready at this point to utilize it.

This issue is odd.. Quick question: Did you ever powercycled the amplifier (ON/OFF) after the upgrade?
I think that it could be the issue here if the amplifier was always ON.

When you go from one plugin to the other, we need to modify the ADC/DAC sample rate (48-96k) and unfortunately that piece of code is only enabled during a power cycled. Please have a trial and keep us updated.

Yes, power cycle after changing the firmware did the trick, everything is back to as it should be.

I may have missed the info, but were you stating that one plug-in uses 48kHz, while the other uses 96kHz? Since mine is a dedicated subwoofer amp, any of these would be overkill. If my math is correct, a 2300 tap at 96kHz is 50mS time window, while 48kHz is 100mS. Wouldn't there be a case to have the sampling rate as an option for the FIR plug-in? I suppose the implementation would make it too difficult to sample at even lower rates, even if the codec supports it. At 12kHz sampling rate, it would still be plenty for a subwoofer, and the number of taps would actually span almost 0.5 sec window, which would be a dream setup.

How are you going to delay everything else to match it?

Unfortunately, we can't have it all to fit everybody's needs. We've got the crowd wanting 384k and we've got the crowd wanting 12k.. Hard to please everybody.. Maybe FIR isn't the best fit for a SUB.. IIR is a lot more efficient and sufficient in most scenario based on our experience.

Hi,

Just as John.Reekie raised, I haven't thought very far about system implementation yet. I thought the sub frequencies require the most room correction, where an FIR filter can do most to correct, assuming of course it's long enough. Anyway, another project I don't have the time for, just like you guys. Just work on the products that makes the most money for you, and I will keep buying as a vote for what I want to see.

Thanks for the feedback. For the SUB, you'll notice that you can actually achieve amazing results with REW already. We're guessing that you used it already maybe? With 10PEQ band, that's very powerful already.
