Hi Folks,

Just installed an ICE125 into a small 8" sub, and connected the included network cable directly to an available network port on my PC. I have the NIC on the PC configured for DHCP, but after reboots of the PC, and the amp, I can't obtain a connection to the amp. My NIC on the PC says: "Unidentified Network".

Any tips and tricks to getting this connected? Do I need to hard code my NIC to a certain duplex and speed, or is autonegotiate ok?

You might need to use a crossover ethernet cable to make a direct connection like that.

Generally, users would connect both computer and PWR-ICE to a router/switch and a special cables would not be required. However, if not connecting via a router/switch and either of your devices won't auto-configure, then you need to solve the issue with a special cable.

Sorry to hear of these issues? You're using the latest plugin/firmware on these units. A bit more details would help I think.
Was your Wifi on? It could throw off the software (trying to find the unit over wifi instead of TCPIP).

Thanks guys. Most gear today autoswitches for xover cables, but you're probably right, since this isn't a managed switch.

However, devteam, I didn't realize the amp was still going to try and grab an IP from my router even though I'm doing a direct, PC to Amp network connection. I thought it was going to issue an internal IP to itself, as well as the connected device (my PC). When I get home, I
l'll enable the amp's MAC on my router and see how it goes. Sheesh, i hope I didn't miss the obvious on this one! LOL.

AFA firmware, I haven't been able to connect to the amp yet (it's brand new). So, if I can esablish a network connection to it, I supposed I'll be able to check that.

Edit: Ok, I delayed my departure to work, and gave this a try. I don't have an xover cable around, but I disabled MAC filtering on my router, and the sub/amp still isn't getting a network connection. I'll crimp a new cable at work and try that when I gethome. In the meantime, Devteam, can yuo please advise if I need an xover cable for this, or will the amp make the necessary swap of pins for a direct connection to a PC?

Hi, try turning off the Wifi on your computer and/or disconnecting it from the router.

The normal cable should work.

I have found that you can either do it one way or the other: direct connection PC to amp, with no router or other networking involved anywhere, OR connect the amp to the router. But not a mixture of both.

(That is with my Macbook, I have not tried Windows.)

Hmm, that makes sense, thanks John! I'll give that a try in a few hours.

Ok folks, what John suggested, worked. I used my old laptop, disabled wifi, and connected the straight through cable, voila. Now I have to figure out how to apply a low pass xover on this. Poking through the manual now.
