I have a two of the 125's in my system, and one of them makes a weird whistling sound for a while after first turn on. It's like the amp is oscillating or something. The other one doesn't do this. Is this normal? The sound goes away after a while, but I'm concerned that this thing will eventually oscillate itself to death. thanks.

I wouldn't consider that normal. Neither of mine do it. Probably would be good to take a recording of it and then open a support ticket.

Thanks. I'll just wait for it to fail, or something like that. I have too many other things to do.

Thanks, but, I think I should try it on a house circuit that actually has a functional ground connection first, don't you think? Some idiot cut most of the ground wires in my house....

Hmmmm, it doesn't seem to make the squealing sound any more. Maybe it healed itself? We can hope. It just makes the usual hiss and noise like the other one.... That's what I get for using high sensitivity loudspeakers with these plate amps. I had no idea this would be a problem.

I've talked to other people who have used the Power ICE Class D amps and they all say that they are noisy. You should consider changing suppliers or otherwise making changes to your product if you expect those of us who want absolute quiet from our amps to use your products. Your plate amps are not suitable for high sensitivity loudspeakers, like horns or pro audio drivers, where sensitivity can be 100-115 dB. You should consider making a lower power product that uses a Class AB amp that is dead quiet. Just a suggestion.

The amps I have still make noise, but it's not so loud that I can hear it while music is playing. Still, most audiophiles would consider any noise coming from their loudspeakers to be a problem. Has there been any changes in the product in the last 2 years that would lower the noise?

I connected your 250 watt plate amp to a horn loudspeaker and I got a mild hiss from it. Is the 250 watt plate amp more quiet than the 125? The specs seem the same to me. Connecting a 250 watt class D amp to a horn loudspeaker seems absurd, but no one makes a low power, low noise DSP plate amp as far as I know.

I am wondering if you have found a dsp plate amp that is quiet. After months of research and deliberation I recently purchased a pair of SVS 4000 series subws and they are injecting a squealing sound into my system. I am now looking at building my own subs and the DSP functionality is something I really would like to have in my system. I have relatively sensitive speakers as well (94DB) and would like to find a good amp with DSP functions that can be controlled from my listening position. I have started looking at non plate amps as well. Curious to know if your research has found an alternate solution. The obvious other plate amp contenders are Hypex and Dayton. My guess is Hypex is the more sophisticated product but controlling it looks to be a much more complicated affair than the GUI you get from the other brands.

Yeah, I got a commercial account with Hypex, so I'm going to try their small 100 watt amp with my horn tweeters and see how quiet they really are. I'm slow on this though, sorry.
