Hello, has anyone considered the RFI and EMI noise radiated by plate amps that have digital electronics installed in them, like the miniDSP plate amps? It seems to me that these things would radiate like crazy since a wood box would not provide any shielding. It looks like I'm going to have to make my own boxes for the plate amps I already bought, but it sure would be easier if I could just buy them. Having them custom made here in America is stupid expensive.

@ dirkwright

We'd be happy to answer but do you mind to clarify what you mean by RFI and EMI noise? You mean noise that would be transmitted to the amplifier? Are you seeing any issues right now? All rules of correct EMI compliance were respected as our products obviously need to pass testing.

Note that we do have some backbox here: www.minidsp.com/products/accessories/mis...r-ice-backbox-detail
Could be what you need here?

I doubt your plate amps need to pass CE and FCC requirements for RFI emissions because they are not complete products, but "parts". They are not a stand alone produce but intended to be used in a loudspeaker. There is no way that your plate amps could possibly pass CE and FCC requirements for RFI emissions because there is no shielding provided for the SMPS nor for the DAC or DSP chips. The circuit boards are just hanging out in free air, and a speaker box provides no shielding for RFI emissions. For people with hearing aids, pacemakers and other kinds of devices, this is important.

I have yet to see a plate amp on the market with the FCC label. The ones with the CE label most likely did not test for RFI emissions.

I did not know you provided boxes for your plate amps. It would have been helpful to mention that fact on the page for the plate amps, or perhaps I missed it.

@ Dirkwright

As mentioned before, double posting on exactly the same comments on 2 different places.. Let's just answer in one..
Hoping we can follow our forum rules to please stay work together and not do double work! Much appreciated. :-)
