Hi, hope to have someone with nanaoAVR HDA experience to try to spot any gotchas in an upgrade I'm planning from a family friendly (yes, it actually can be done B) ) setup shown in the first diagram. Having the family switch from an analog rotary switch (controlling source on miniDIGI) and analog level control to and app and/or a non specified IR can be risky...

After a Windows 10 upgrade the PC's Asus Xonar driver stopped working (or at least the 2 digital outputs won't work) - so now 2ch PC-audio is sent via HDMI to the Ligawo switch to at least get DSP going.
In short: I have 6 speakers and a nice Rotel amp just sitting there  , being painfully reminded of it during movie & Nintendo Switch nights :(

Today:

Future setup:

1. Have searched and read user's manual but not sure if the HDA output on the analog RCAs can be set to 5.1 and the HDMI only present the Ligawo switch with the front channels? Otherwise it will fail at the DAC or set to downmix it to 2.0 with surround material being sent to the fronts.
2. If 1 is not possible, can one use the matrix in the nanoAVR software in some way or another product combination to accomplish my somewhat  complex situation with miniDSPs products?

Sources are
a) PC (local and streamed media, VLC and Jriver software) 2/6ch LPCM
b) SONOS 2ch LCPM
c) Nintendo Switch 6/2ch LPCM
d) (sometimes) Chromecast in HDMI switch
d) (sometimes) Raspberry Pi in HDMI switch

In to non-AVR units (DAC and power amps) and a projector.
Any thoughts would be helpful.

Have you considered getting an AVP (or AVR with pre outs)? Some good deals can be had on the used market.

Thanks, haven’t thought of avp, and being in this setup for years, makes it hard to envision where this would plug in to cover my sources and still make the end user happy, would you care to point it out?
An AVR with preouts seems even more complex to introduce, not at least since they are often huge and runs hot. Apartment dwellers have even more requirements than house folks I guess ;)

I'm thinking it could replace the embedder, the HDMI switch and the Cambridge DAC, and you could use a nanoAVR HD instead of an HDA.

John, really appreciate your idea of an avp.

First seeing most are 2-10x the price of the HDA but then found the Outlaw Model 976 that ticks all boxes (even has "higher numbers" on the interfaces and a basic, but sufficient is seems, 10 ch PEQ build in) exept only being available in North America (110V) and the price is around 2x.. Probably worth if for the reduction in complexity, cables, boxes and added inputs/formats etc

Probably worth having a look on the used market, mine was a steal (pre-Atmos so "obsolete").
