I can "connect" to the unit but when I hit "Enter bootloader" I always get a "Fail to Connect" error popup even though the tool itself still says it's connected (in the status box on the lower right of the upgrade tool window). I'm trying to upgrade my current HDA which is obvious I hope. I have already updated the firmware to nanoAVR_DL_v1.22.hex and then 1.30, didn't have any problems with that. Now I'm lost as I'm not sure how to finish the upgrade process by emailing the file to minidsp for registration.

I then (because there was no sound from my dsp) "downgraded" the firmware to the previously working regular firmware, nanoAVR_v1.30.hex and set the outputs and routing to my previous setup. Now, I have no sound. The nanoBM application connects and I can alter settings but there's zero sound from any output or input.

I would REALLY appreciate ideas for how to get either the regular firmware or the Diract operational as I have no stereo at the moment and that make me very sad and regretful of purchasing the Dirac upgrade.

TLDR: tried to install Dirac, couldn't. reinstalled old firmware and setup but now have zero audio output.
How can I get the regular FW working?
Even better, how can I get my $300 Dirac purchase running.

We're assuming that you did as follow:
a) Push the firmware upgrade for the nanoAVR DL
b) Once done, use the nanoAVR DL utility (as nanoAVR plugin won't work anymore at that point, it's not a nanoAVR HD/HDA anymore)
c) At connecting, load the license file.

Unfortunately unsure as to what is the issue here but starting a tech support tix would be the way to go..

It would be nice to know how you resolved this issue as I am having a very similar issue. That is what a community forum is for. Just to add, before I submit my ticket, is that when trying to upgrade my HDA to DL, I enter bootloader using the upgrade tool, enable usb and get the following Error message: USB Device with VID= 0x4D8 and PID= 0x3C is not found. I don't know how to get around this. I have tried it on two different computer.

PS - I feel like I am using software from about ten years ago that engineers designed for engineers to use. If I were a developer at MiniDSP, I would probably be a little embarrassed. But I guess as long as your customers have to get funneled through an archaic process of submitting tickets for silly errors that should not even be a concern in this day and age, and in the end have to wait an extra week or so to get the product they just received to work, why change anything right? Come on! Really? Update your software. This is ridiculous.

Sorry to hear you're getting an issue here. Did you start a tech support ticket? (support.minidsp.com). That's where our support team is here to help. This forum being only for the community. Our support team answers questions daily to all our customers. We're unfortunately unsure where the harsh statement that our software is poor and so is the process of using a tech support portal to contact tech support. Why is it archaic? It's quite similar to what other companies as far as we're aware...
Where is the 1week lead time coming from? We strive hard to help our customer asap...

We're ALWAYS happy to listen to constructive criticism but also appreciate if we're actually given the chance to help.. :-)
The nanoAVR has been out for more than 4years and we actually haven't seen similar issue to this post. The customer ended up sending us the activation key fine without contacting us so all good from his side.

We look forward to receiving your tech support so we can understand what is the issue here. I'm sure that we'll figure it out soon. :-)
