Hi All,

I’ve been wanting to use a mini-dsp product for bass management and room correction for some time now. I’d like to do all of the above in the digital domain and then output 5.2 analog signals into the 7.1 channel analog inputs of my preamp. (I don’t have room for surrounds and surround back speakers in my listening room, but do have two subwoofers). I primarily watch and listen to streaming services. I have two primary issues:

Transcoding DD and DTS source material to mch LPCM (I like my Roku Ultra, but am open to other options)
Bit perfect playback of streaming audio services (such as Tidal and Google Play Music) over HDMI.

I also like headless playback of music and simple interfaces for the devices so that my significant other who is not an enthusiast can enjoy the system.

Right now, I’m wondering if the “right” smart Blu-ray player is the solution. I’m also wondering if a rasperry pi or media pc with Kodi could do the trick.

Also, just to confirm, if I want Dirac Live and bass management I would have to combine a Nano AVD DL and HDA right?

Thanks,
-Ed

How are you converting HDMI to analog currently?

I’m not. I have a 7.1 analog out for my Blu-ray player. I have a Roku ultra with spdif our via toslink and I have the analog outs of my dac into the bypass inputs of my preamp.

@eforer

Would you happen to have a diagram so we can understand better your setup? As you know the nanoAVR can only support PCM.
If you need bass management + Dirac, you'd indeed need nanoAVR HD (bass management) + nanoAVR HDA (running Dirac Live update)
