Hello,
I've tried to read everything available but I'm confused about volume control using the nanoavr dl. I set the volume on my receiver (onkyo 646) to a 'normal' listening level when I made my measurements. I read them manual carefully but didn't see any instructions on where to set the volume to make the initial measurements.

The result was that the resulting volume after applying the resulting filter set was very low and I had to jack up both the volume on the nanoavr and on my receiver in order to achieve a reasonable listening volume which doesn't seem correct to me. Can someone give me specific instructions on how to set the volume on the receiver when measuring and what the 'correct' way to adjust the volume during normal use once filters are set?

The way Dirac works and other FIR filter for that matter have the tendency to lower the volume a bit.
If it shouldnt there would be a ton of distortion!
As long as there is no distortion i have the Dirac volume at max.
You could always take up the volume on the different ch on your Avr.

When i do the measurement i try to be on the low side, just around the left side of the green bar.
It should not effect the volume at the end but thats the way i have done it.

Cool thanks for the info. So quick question, what is the suggested vulume level on the avr when you make the initial measurements? I had it set to 40 (goes from 1 to 80) and had the gain maxed out in dirac (was slightly below target level). Would lowering the avr volume for initial measurements yield a higher calibrated level?

The numbers you get on your Avr is nothing i can use in terms of the correct volume, there are other things to consider to.
In theory a lower volume dosent trigger the room so much and Dirac dosent have to "work" as hard.

In the window where you check the volumes, try to change the Umiks sensitivity up a bit and never lower any ch volume!
Its better to take the overall volume up/down until your in range.
After your done with all the measurements you can take up the volume 3-6db on every ch on your Avr.

I havent checked how much db i loose with the Nano but with Dirac on Pc i lost 6db.
