Dear All,

I would like to optimized my AVR, Onkyo TX-NR828, with Nano AVR

I understand is, the speaker management in this product standard, can't expect further.

I am thinking , The Nano AVR HD will handle the speaker management.

And Nano AVR DL will do the correction for the room acoustic.

Please advise if my understanding is wrong.

1. From the DVD/Blu ray Player , how to set up the output for the DVD player? L-PCM?

2. With HDMI output from DVD/BD player go to Nano AVR HD

3.Output HDMI from Nano AVR HD go to input HDMI of Nano AVR DL ( for Dirac Live ),

4.What is the value of Onkyo TX-NR 828 for the speaker delay ( distance ) as my understand is, in the Nano AVR HD, it has the delay too. Should i key in the smallest number ( 0.15m ) or the biggest number ( more than 8 m )

I do really appreciate for your help and advice.

I am looking forward to hearing from all of you, guys

Thanks

Hendra

Why not go Source> NANO AVR DL > NANO AVR HDA and avoid the Onkyo. The HDA can provide volume control, and BM. By removing one piece of electronics you could also potentially improve the overall sound. Or maybe the HDA cannot be used in this manner?

That works, is my usual HT setup.

Thanks for the enlightening me.

The problem is,

I have bought the Nano AVR HD

Yes the idea is good,

But means i need to replace with

Nano AVR HDA

Buy 7 channel power amplifier

And stop using my Onkyo 828

This is the things i want to avoid

Thanks

Sure, you can go either

nanoAVR HD -> nanoAVR DL -> Onkyo

or

nanoAVR DL -> nanoAVR HD -> Onkyo

In my limited understanding, I thought it is better to apply DIRAC on a digital signal that has already gone through bass management. So, I would assume Nano AVR HD (with BM) + Nano AVR DL would be the correct order. Ideally, I wish the nano AVR DL did bass management first before applying DIRAC. The 88A with BM does this correctly, but I would like to avoid the higher price and the multiple A/D and D/A going on in there. I am not in the market for this product yet. I have a NAD T775HD receiver which has Audyssey MultEQ/XT. I tested Dirac Live on my Mac using HDMI to my receiver and was very impressed. However, the price for the Mac software as well as the lack of bass management on the Mac prior to applying Dirac made me not buy the Mac software. Does miniDSP have any plans for a new nanoAVR-DL or even nanoAVR-DLA with the following features

1) HDMI 2.0 + HDCP 2.2
2) Bass management + Dirac Live
3) DACs (for the DLA) so that all I need is a power amp.

That's completely incorrect. You can do it that way if you want, but in the end what counts is the result that you get.

Hallo John
I had the same understanding as bommai. But you categorically state that it is incorrect. Could you explain why.
I know that a lot has been written about this topic, so I am also getting confused now. Your explanation could help.
Thanks.

Hi, I said that the statement concerning the "correct order" is incorrect. Either way will work fine, there are just different trade-offs.

This is a rather "old" thread but if your gonna use Nano DL with Nano HD there is only one way to do it.
And thats with BM after DL, otherwise you dont get any BM at all while measuring.
