Normally to use the nanoAVR, you would use its HDMI in. Got it.

But if I use its USB 2.0 in, will I get the exact same functionality?

My laptop does NOT have a HDMI port.
I want to use REW on the laptop,
I want to connect to the AVR through the nanoAVR, rather than using the laptop's headphone out jack to the AVR's audio in.

So I what want to do is:
REW on laptop.
Laptop: USB >>> nanoAVR HD: USB 2.0
nanoAVR: HDMI>>>AVR: HDMI

Will this work?

It is not covered in the nanoAVR HD User Manual.

I found out that I have USB 2.0 on my laptop (which is maybe 10 years old) and at that time 2.0 USB had the USB 1.1 audio standards. I don't know nothing about what USB 1.1 audio means.

So knowing the above, can I successfully use REW on my laptop and output via my USB 2.0 (1.1 audio) to the nanoAVR HD USB 2.0 in (and the REW control I want?

Hi, the USB port on the nanoAVR HD is for control only (not audio).

@ XBR11

Make sure that you read the user manual for the nanoAVR in details. As John is pointing out, the USB port is only for control. No streaming of audio. We don't have a USB to HDMI platform I'm afraid.. :-(
