By any chance, are there any provisions for fitting a reset switch to the nanoAVR? Pads on the circuit board or something like that where a momentary switch could be wired in to reset or restart the nanoAVR when HDMI problems cause it to freeze up? The way my rig is constructed, it would be far easier to push a button on the front panel as opposed to pulling an equipment rack out to get to the back of the unit. I realize that this would kill the warranty: so be it. My only other alternative is to get a Wemo wifi enabled AC plug to power cycle the nanoAVR from an iPhone app. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

@ sluggoaudio,

Let's try to see how we can help.
a) There isn't a reset button on the board I'm afraid.
b) By HDMI problem, you mean handshake issues? Typically a toggle from HDMI 1 to HDMI2 will restart the HDMI handshake.
c) Did you contact our tech support team for any issues you have with the nanoAVR HDMI sync? I don't believe we're seeing a ticket from your name. Please bring more details/info.

I have frequent freezes like described by OP. Generally occurs when there is either the auto HDMI switching occurs in the receiver OR when removing cables after a calibration session.

It would be nice if there was a firmware resolution, so I might generate a ticket as well.

Most likely handshake issues. I've been through a ton of different setups, and it seems that bad cables and tenuous connections are the number one cause of problems. HDMI is truely an awful standard. I love that it can pass signal and yet be partially disconnected. The most recent problem that triggered my post was that I found my PC, connected to the nanoAVR HDMI 2, had no audio device, and that the video driver reported that the connection was by the DVI connector! Restarting the PC, and toggling the nanoAVR inputs did nothing. Only a nanoAVR power cycle fixed it. Adding a front panel momentary switch in series with the DC in would be the same as a reset, but unfortunately the way the connector is soldered to the board prevents that without a lot of surgery. Adding the appropriate pads and a jumper in future units would be a nice option. A power on/off option for the remote control might also do the trick.
Using your USB monitoring program isn't feasable now, as I don't have a spare PC to run it on that's not a part of the rig.
Anyway, hopefully this a one time thing and isn't worth opening a service ticket. I'd probably be waiting a long time for the glitch to reoccurr.
Thanks.

Providing you're using the latest firmware from our website (we keep pushing revisions), next step would be to contact our tech support team. We can provide HDMI logging tools that will give us more info on the reasons for the HDMI lock up.

You can't imagine how many "customization" we've had to do over the years for non compliant HDMI devices. It's just very upsetting that very large companies are simply not following at all the standards..
