Isn't ARC where the audio is supposed to go back down the HDMI input cable?

Yes it is. The idea was if i connected the HDMI from the TV witch carry the Audio Return Channel and plug it in the HDMI input on the NANOAVR HDA, the only function this would have was the audio from the tv.
The HDMI output of the NANOAVR HDA will be connected to one of the other HDMI inputs on the tv.

Hi again, I don't think you can connect the TV input to the nanoAVR input and get audio that way (is that what you mean?). I mean, I don't know, but it doesn't sound right...

Yes that's exactly what I mean :-)
As I understand it (correct me if im wrong) The HDMI input on the TV with Audio Return Channel is a sort of combined In/Out only with sound on the Out =Audio Return Channel. I would only use the "Out" function on the HDMI terminal... does it make any sense at all :-) ?
Best regards

From what I can tell the ARC uses a different pair of wires to the normal "forward" channels. I think it would only possibly work if the nanoAVR supports ARC and the output from nanoAVR goes to TV input. However I don't think nanoAVR supports ARC. Maybe you can try a TOSLINK (output from TV) to HDMI convertor (input to nanoAVR)?
