Hello,

I may try the dirac live on my system.

I use an OPPO 103 as transport, a nanoAVR HD for routing Blue ray sound to 2.0, an HDMI to SPdif Converter, a nanoDigi to bi amp 2 full digital amps.
I can listen to music with the HDMI out, no audible difference with the spdif of the oppo...

To apply dirac live, I have 2 possibilities :
use the nanoAVR DL after the nanoAVR HD
use the DDRC-22D after the HDMI to SPdif converter.

Do you think that one solution is better ?

I know the 48kHz limitation of the nanoAVR DL. I dont think it is audible...
The nanoADR DL has the price advantage. (and more possibilities 7.1 treatment ...)

Any suggestions ?

Any reason you couldn't just upgrade your nanoAVR HD to a Dirac Live unit and use only one box? www.minidsp.com/products/ht-series/nanoavr-hd-to-dl-update

The Dirac Live units also have the ability to remap channels to 2.0.

For clarity, you can re-assign channels but you can't downmix them.

I'm wondering (David) what specifically you use the nanoAVR HD for? The Oppo has downmixing built in (for the SPDIF output). (Or at least, the manual says it does, I'm not sure I've ever tried it.)

The reason why I do not use the SPDIF of the OPPO is that
the SPDIF stream is downscaled to 16 bits ...

Another reason is that the downmix of the OPPO is not good for me ... the center channel seems too low, the voices are difficult to hear at low level.
With the NanoAVR, I can fix that, I can also create "night" settings with lower LFE, ...

I agree that the nanoAVR DL should have a mapping feature like the nanoAVR HD... That must be possible as it is need few CPU power...
May be in the future ...

So any idea of the differences between the nanoAVR DL and the DDRC-22D to do the dirac job ?

I'm not aware of any differences other than what you pointed out (though the "inner workings" of the Dirac boxes are all sorta secret). I'm assuming you've tested that 96k is preserved through the signal chain? In that case, the DDRC-22D would preserve 96k, as you say. The nanoAVR DL is cheaper and would allow you to go to more channels later if you wanted. I'd guess the decision really depends on whether you plan to stay 2.0 or not.

The DDRC-22D does have a volume knob.

So I guess, no real answer from me....
