This might have been answered Before but here goes.
Today i route L and R to RL/RR in that way i can use Nano as a crossover on my front speakers.
L and R handles the woofers and LR/RR the tweeters.

I have been thinking awhile to upgrade to Dirac Live, can the routing mess things up?
And if i download the trial from Dirac can a use those settings when i upgrade the Nano?

Thanks
:)

Hi, the nanoAVR DL doesn't have routing like the nanoAVR HD does. The DL just does Dirac on each channel.

Ouch,
Then i would have to go with the software version i guess.

Hi again, sure... but, um, how does that solve the issue? You're saying you would still output via the nanoAVR HD?

Now youd lost me
If i have Dirac live on my computer and Nano comes after i cant see how that would effect the routing i do?
The signal out from the comp is still 5.1 with or without Dirac.

It is not the best idea to have all the PEC:s (adjustment on adjustment) active but the filters shouldent be a problem?
Or am i missing anything?

Hi again.. I think I might be lost too? :)

I understand that you're using nanoAVR and using it to do crossover for the front speakers. Since you say "front" I assume you are doing multichannel (not stereo).

To add Dirac Live, you can either ADD a nanoAVR DL, like this:

Source -> nanoAVR DL -> nanoAVR HD -> AVR

or:

Source -> nanoAVR DL -> nanoAVR HDA -> Power amps

OR, you can do Dirac Live in computer:

Computer source with Dirac Live -> nanoAVR HD (etc as above).

In either case, nanoAVR HD(A) is doing the crossover function for the front speakers. If you just upgrade the nanoAVR HD to nanoAVR DL, you take away the crossover function :)

I use my comp as source for everything :)
My reciver only works as a power-amp for the rears and volym control .Im a little oldscool who still want a knob to turn ;) Center channel still uses active crossover but i Realy would like to keep the crossover for L/R in Nano since it sounds Way better and im only using 5.1.

Thanks for the help :)
Gonna intall the trial in a day or two.

Its just a tiny Cinema/music setup.
Three 140L sealed boxes with JBL 2226, B&C DE75 and JBL horns.
Plus two JBL 4645C and JBL 8340 in the rear.
There are alot of hours in the integration, timing etc.

I just could not wait so i installed it and did some measurment.
.Everything shrinks and it sounds flat and tiny.
Like when you record a guitar in left speaker but your letting 20-30% ambient sound go to the right speaker.
With Dirac its more like 1-2% and the soundstage is realy tiny.
Music with phase shifting looses the effect of sound coming from all kind of directions.

I must ad that the room i play in have an RT60 @ 0,2 sec
Gonna do some Movie testing and the trial is valid in 14 Days so i gote the time for new measurements

@ smygolf,

Dirac "sounding tiny" and not right, most probably means something is wrong here.. :-) We have so many units in the field and the consensus is the same that Dirac makes leaps and bound on audio quality. Check your routing between Dirac running on your PC and Dirac running on your nanoAVR HD. Possible that you're not sending the correct channel to the correct place.

Since this Dirac software comes from the demo (i.e. software purchased from Dirac.se) and not from nanoAVR DL, you might be best getting support directly from Dirac. But you could get maybe something going on by posting some graphs of your measurements and target curve. 99.9% of the times,it's related to an issue of target curve (i.e. flat isn't what we like to hear) or measurement issue.

A friend that uses Dirac Live thought i might have had to Little distance between the measuring Points.
I did have an issue with the rear speakers first, Dirac, Dirac wanted to use rear L/rear R instead of Side L/side R as would be deafult.
But that i solved in Nano by re routing.
The target curve is perfect cause its the same as i use with Nano ;)

Im gonna do it all over again and see what i can find. If i cant get it to work thats Ok cause the system rocks as it is today :)

*edit*
About the measurering Points, depending on what view you choose they aint the same?

The last one is the one i would Think is the right one with the lower Points being a bit in front of the sweet spot

Indeed  Excellent work.

On the mic position, all three views show the same point. Above you have the initial measurement point, which has to be in the center of the listening area (it is used to calculate delays and levels). Then you move onto the next one etc. Of the points in front of the center position in the "Sofa" layout, two are higher and two are lower.

The exact location of every measurement point is not critical, you can experiment with varying them. The important thing is to spread them around the listening area.

Yes sire i did :)
Its getting better and i just might like it. A long time ago i had Canton Digital 1.1 and it was the same there, to small measurement area screwed things up. I know that this system looks as its on steroids and yes it can break your ears i pure db, but its also very subtile and holographic if the material is.

Thanks for the tip :)

Right,
I did a simple test to measure with Dirac with Nano Active. Then i eyeballed the target curve to get as close as i could to what it sounds with Nano.
It took 3 adjustments and then i decided i was close enough, there aint much adjustments at all.

Then i used REW and measurede with/without the Dirac correction and nearly spot on.
To my surprise Group delay is a bit worse with Dirac and phase is about the same.

My ears say that somethings sound better and something is getting worse but its not any big changes.
If i only had listened to one of the setups i would be happy with what i heard.

So my conclusion is that i realy dont need Dirac.
But im not done with it :)
