Issue:Pink noise not being generated when setting up "Output and Levels" with Dirac Live Calibration Tool

I have my nanoAVR DL connected in the following manner: (Macbook Pro 10.10.5)

1) nanoAVR DL USB to MacBook Pro USB
2) MacBook Pro mini port with HDMA adapter going to Yamaha CX-A5000 (USB V-Aux input on fron panel); signal generation to drive speakers
3) UMIK-1 USB to MacBook Pro USB

From the Dirac Calibration tool I was able to get past the "Sound System" and the "Mic Config" steps
I encountered an issue when trying to test the Left Channel with the test signal. I set the Yamaha AV volume level to -12db; set the output level on Dirac Calibration tool to -80 db and brought it up slowly. No pink pink noise.


I am also using the Soundflower (64ch output) and LIneIN (Input- UMIK-1; Output - Soundflower 64 ch) apps on Macbook pro to route the signals from the Macbook to the Yamaha AV and UMIK-1;

The input gain on the Dirac Calibration is set to 0db.

If I turn the computers volume all the way up and increase the Yamaha AV volume I get feedback.

Any ideas on how to get the pink noise to generate properly so that I can seth the Output levels?

HDMI carries audio interleaved with video, so you need to have a video source connected and selected to provide the "carrier" for the test signal. Try connecting the Macbook to a nanoAVR input instead of to the AVR?

Thanks John, That resolved the issue. I was trying to connect as I did with the nanoAVR HD and REW.

In summary the connections that worked for me looked like this:
1) nanoAVR DL HDMI IN to MacBook Pro mini DIsplay/HDMI connection
2) nanoAVR DL USB to MacBook Pro USB #1
3) UMIK-1 USB to MacBook Pro USB #2

There probably should be an application note on HDMI on computer to HDMI on nanoAVR DL connection as I saw that some else had a similar issue. I don't think the nanoAVR DL manual covers the connection regarding the computer HDMI to the nanoAVR HDMI along with the background info...HDMI carries audio interleaved with video, so you need to have a video source connected and selected to provide the "carrier" for the test signal.

I did not have to use Soundflowerbed or LineIn.

Measurements will be taken once the landscaper is done with the noisy leaf blower.

You are correct. It is on page 24 of the nanoAVR DL manual. I do think the instructions for setup could be more explicit.

Good news...I have results attached from my first set of measurements. I did not edit the target curves but went with the defaults.
