Hello, Is it possible to use nanoAVR DL + nanoAVR HDA togather? Is it better to start a chain with Dirac first or HD (for bass managment)? Some people say to use room correction first (by using OpenDRC for example) and then bass management and/ or xovers and DAC, some say the room correction should be the last in a chain (like in DDRC-88A).

I want to use three sources : Macmini (HDMI), Oppo (HDMI) and cable TV (hdmi) to both these nanoAVR units.

Do you know when nanoAVR DLA is coming?

Thank you for all replies.
Tomek

Hi, I do that, it works fine. You would need an HDMI switcher with 3 sources, unless you didn't run one of them through the DL. I know the Oppo and Mac Mini will have no trouble going into the nanoAVRs but you should check that your cable box will generate linear PCM.

Re question on timeframe for nanoAVR DLA, that would have to be left to miniDSP (devteam).

Thank you for your reply. In what order do you have your units? HD->DL or DL-> HD? Regards, Tomek

Oh what am I talking about! You don't need an HDMI switch, because you can run the cable box through one of the HDMI inputs on the Oppo. Also, I believe the Oppo will decode a Dolby bitstream on the HDMI input and produce linear PCM on the output.

I wonder if I can test it with my old 540D. Hm.

I cant do that. I have an older oppo 93 which doesnt have a hdmi input. Is it worth waiting for nanoAVR DLA? and then use nanoAVR HD-> nanoAVR DLA -> power amps?

The other option I consider is to use DDRC-22D and a good dac. Macmini (with usb/ AES/EBU converter, Oppo with digital coax out, and satellite TV with toslink out).

This setup is stereo only. I am building it for my sister and her boyfriend.

For stereo, I would think the DDRC-22D (or DDRC-22DA) a better fit... I'm not sure what the Mac mini will do if connected to HDMI but there's no display device connected. Maybe it will work, I suppose I could try it.

Both HDA and DLA have simultaneous output at RCA and HDMI so HDMI out goes to TV set and analog outs to poweramps. There is no problem with connecting macmini I suppose.

I have just come up with another idea.

Three sources connected to a decent DAC and DDRC-AN or openDRC_AN. I know there is a double AD-DA-AD-DA conversion but so is at popular DDRC-88A.
