Hi guys,

Have you done anything about channel routing on the Nanoavr DL or do you plan to do anything? It's kind of the only reason I'm hesitating about buying one. I believe you said it's still running on the DL but only accessible to developers? Could you preconfigure channel routing on the presets if I bought one?

Thanks

@ J19801110

I think that maybe we're missing a refresh l here of what we're supposed to do here about the channel routing. :-)
Please clarify and we'd be happy to answer.

The NanoAvr HD allows you to route the source channels to any or all of the output channels. For example, if I have a two channel source, I can upmix it to 7.1 in the NanoAVR before applying EQ. Unfortunately, the NanoAVR DL doesn't have this, so if it's 2 channel in, there is no way to upmix in the NanoAVR before applying Dirac. I think this is pretty limiting. :-|

Oh yes, I see.. I'm afraid I've got to be honest that it's not on our giant todo/priority list to start creating a whole new plug-in for the nanoAVR DL..
From all the customers we have in the nanoAVR and the feedback we've actually seen/received, very few do upmixing.. The reason being that they'd want something else to do upmixing (i.e. phase control at crosspoints and etc)..2ch to 7.1 isn't a simple matrix, it's quite a lot more to make it work well.

I'm sure majority of 7.1 owners want 5.1 > 7.1 upmix capability.
If I wanna do upmix on my AVR via Dolby ProLogic IIx, is this the correct way ? :
DiscPlayer (set to 5.1 LPCM) > nanoAVR (EQ just the LCR and sub) > AVR (engage DolbyPL-IIx to upmix the surrounds) > 7.1 audio
Or is there a better way?

EQ just the LCR and sub, leaving the left surround & right surround un-EQ <<< Is this even possible in nanoAVR? Is there anything like a checkbox which allows me to choose which channel I would like to EQ?

In answer to your question (and what we mentioned above),5.1 > 7.1 upmix capability isn't a simple matrix. That's true.
It requires more to make this happen (i.e. see dolby encoding matrix below: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dolby_Pro_Logic).
I don't know if your trick would work as never tested.. maybe could do the trick but unsure to be honest.. :-(
