The user manual states that the numeric value is RMS. It does not say that the bar-graph meter is peak-reading, but it seems that it should be. Problem is, it does not act like a peak-reading meter, seems to respond much too slowly to be considered a peak-reading meter. Just wondering if anyone can say what it is supposed to be??

The answer would be rms. The speed of response depends on the DSP used. Some units have higher speed of reading because their MCU/structure/DSP can afford it. Metering is one thing, doing real time control of DSP while doing metering does take resources as well on the small MCU. Hence the limitation on smaller platforms like 2x4.
