Dear All,

To those of you running the nanoAVR on your system, note that we've learned that the nanoAVR doesn't pass 1080p 24Hz. We will investigate if there is a way for support for 24Hz by a simple firmware upgrade. For the time being, please make sure to disable 24Hz 1080p in your blueray player to prevent some possible issue. That setting can be done from a PS3/Blueray player. Any questions, feel free to email us.

PS: Thanks @ dgage and petatester for warning us

In the last few months, have you been able to confirm if this is a hardware limitation, or if you are working on a firmware fix for this?

Chris,

Actually, there are 2 issues reported, none of which we have been able to reproduce here. Unfortunately...
-issue 1: no video at 24hz. We believe that this issue is related to Deep color setting at 24hz(fine at all other settings). We can't reproduce it here though... :-(
-issue 2 reported:video but no audio. We can't get this to happen even after more than 2 days of troubleshooting with many bluray/tv combinations... This is a mystery.

I either cases, we have asked some of the people sending us a ticket support request to help us with hdmi logs (we have a special firmware doing this for us) unfortunately no news from anybody that did say it MUST be fixed... :-). So to all out there, if u can see that issue (no video at 24hz, we want to talk to u! :-)

Please write a tech support ticket to us (minidsp.desk.com) and we will set u up with the firmware to do that logging. It is a bit of loading, steps but well worth being a hero in the community!:-)

Just been reading this and what a disappointment. I been thinking of buying one of these next month as I was about to order a UMIK-1 to see what my system is doing, but I think I will hold off until this is fixed.

I just re read a few pages and am I right in thinking that it does and sometimes does not work as if you disable deep colour it should work completely fine with 24p?

I have a Marantz UD7007 and use two HDMI outs, one to TV and the other to my processor, so the picture and sound are split for less jitter, so as long as the sound works that would be fine. So anyone tried a Marantz UD7007 with the nanoAVR?

Cheers! :)

I have two BDPs, Sony and Samsung. Neither will pass 1080p24. The Sony will not pass any audio or video when a 1080p24 content is played. The Samsung will auto-switch to 1080i60 and pass through when a 1080p24 content is played, but still cannot pass 24fps, which is the native frame rate for most films.

After a 1080p24 source is playing on the Sony, if I restore the nanoavr to factory defaults while the content is playing, it DOES pass 1080p24 with sound, but only for the track currently playing. If you go back to a 60Hz menu screen and try to playback 1080p24 content, blank screen again.

I have a support ticket pending, and am waiting to hear how I can help solve this problem. I am not sure I can use the Samsung with the nanoavr, as when outputting PCM, it will always down mix to stereo or ProLogic, I have yet to have it output 7.1 PCM

@Maxmercy,

Thanks for the support ticket and your willingness to help on something we can't reproduce here. All received and we got back to you. Someone sent us a comment on how switching a bluray would trigger the effect and we were indeed able to witness something on the logs. We've sent you a debug firmware to see if we're on the right track. Please use that ticket to communicate with us with the logs we asked for. Hoping we can nail that one. :-)

Really good to hear as I ordered my Umik-1 and would be ordering a NanoAVR at the end of next month.

So I hope you nail it “devteam” and thanks to “maxmercy” for taking the time of using the debug firmware as 90% of my content I own is in 24p, so this would be a deal breaker if I had the problem with the nanoAVR.

Please keep the thread updated.

Cheers!

Sent a reply to the support ticket. The new firmware attached to my support ticket reply passes all resolutions at all frame rates I tested.

The firmware version I was sent by minidsp support for the nanoavr allowed all resolutions and framerates to be passed through. When this firmware is available to everyone, it should solve the problem. I have a Sony BDP, model number I cannot recall from memory.

Does it now work with DeepColor on too?

P.S. sorry I have not been able to help, I have been projector less for a while now, and needed to get some speaker issues figured out too.
