Thanks to George at Deer Creek Audio I figured out the problem. It turns out my kid pulled the minidsp Flex out to compare to his DAC and put it back in with the right and left channels placed in the inputs and not position 1 and 2. The sub was in position 1. Since I didn’t think anything had really changed I had only reached back behind the unit to verify nothing had slipped out. After trying various troubleshooting methods and George patiently asking for about the fourth time if I was sure everything was plugged in correctly, I indignantly pulled the unit all the way out and humbly admitted I was wrong. George hung on to verify everything was indeed correct before getting off the line. Fantastic customer service.

My original whine is below…

My balanced Flex with Dirac has suddenly quit working for music playback. I’t worked just fine Tuesday. Wasn’t used Wednesday and Thursday nothing. I plugged my phone in after trying to get more precise measurements and nothing. It was playing the test tones just fine. I’ve tried it with three different phones (two iPhones and one Android), an iPad and a Macbook. All the devices recognized the Flex and were set to play back through it. It’s not the settings from me playing with DSP because it does the same thing on two presets I haven’t touched. I’m using the same usb port for calibration and playback. The Macbook has zero issues recognizing the Flex and doing the calibrations. I’m out of ideas. What really sucks is I liked the Flex enough that I sold my previous DAC so now I have nothing to play music on until I sort this. It’s barely two weeks old.

Any ideas???

Bryan

What input(s) are you trying to use and do you definitely have the right one selected when you're trying to play music? What do you see in Device Console when you try to play music? Any input or output signals? Test some other inputs if you are able to.

Oh, and I'm assuming you've tried switching it off and on again?

I’m using the USB input for both calibration and playback. Calibration went just fine. I did verify the flex was set to usb on the chance I accidentally switched inputs and it was.

I have also tried turning Dirac on and off, no difference.

I was referring to switching the Flex on and off, not Dirac. Do look at what's showing in DC too as per my other question...

Yep, turned it on and off. Even unplugged it for a while.

I just tried running it with the device console open and wasn’t getting anything on the two input meters. That can’t be good… I’ll call Deer Creek Monday, but continue to hope some comes up with something!

Thanks,

Bryan
