I have just replaced my old trusty 2x4 HD with Flex, and the latter has a standby function, which the former didn't have. I am using Flex as my main audio interface for my PC via USB.

So my question is this: should I put Flex into standby when turning off my PC, or can I safely leave it always on, as I did with 2x4 HD?

As a possible point of concern, the Flex does appear to run a bit warm when powered on, which was not the case with 2x4 HD.

I don't see why not. I've left mine on with my whole system since buying in February this year. Its warm but sitting clear of anything else.

I've always left my system on for 30 years.

Component failure largely occurs at cold start up. But I have never had this happen. All components should have free air flow around them.

If you live in high ambient temperatures (over 30C/86F) then secondary cooling may be required ie: fan or air conditioning.
