Hi,
I have a Minidsp 2x4HD, and I'm wondering if there are any technical improvements in the Minidsp Flex over the 2X4HD? I've noticed that they both use the ADSP21489 SHARC DSP.
Is the ADC/DAC chain any different in the Flex? I'd just like to work out if it's worth it for me to upgrade later. Thanks.

The measured performance data on Audio Science Review is better for the Flex than the 2x4 HD. Make of that what you will. 

(I've used a 2x4 HD but not a Flex and so can't comment from experience.)

Yes, I've read the review. Just wanted some confirmation from MiniDSP themselves. The codec in the 2x4HD is the AKM AK4626 according to this post

Has a new codec been used or has one from another model been used, I wonder?

The Flex uses two TI PCM1755 stereo DAC chips for its 4 outputs.  I know because I opened my Flex up and looked.

The Flex also uses a TI PCM4202 ADC chip.

The codec in the 2x4HD is indeed the AKM AK4626.
