Would there be any issue with using the tape out from the preamp (which is a full signal) and keep the selector on phono to the analog input to the Flex?  I don't want to buy a separate phono pre amp in order to play vinyl.  Thanks

Typically tape out is just the input signal passed through the pre-amp without any gain or eq added so unless I’m missing something obvious, yes it should work fine assuming the passed through signal is the output after the phono stage.

Thanks.  I found a manual online that says "The gam at 1000hz is 62db to the mains and 42db to the tape outputs" (from both phono1 and 2) so I should be probably make sure the flex is turned all the way down before giving it a try.

Definitely turn the Flex down initially. Does the manual say what the voltage out of the tape out is?

I found this: “Auxiliary and Tape: 0.25 volts for 2.5 volts output; 250,000 ohms” and “Output- Tape: 0.25 volts with rated input. Phono signal to 10 millivolts produces 1.2 volts output”
