From the release notes, I have the impression that the primary purpose of the new firmware releases for the Flex is to allow use of the new Device Console software. And the Device Console's focus seems to be support for multiple types of miniDSP devices.

Currently, my only active miniDSP device is a Flex Balanced. Am I overlooking any meaningful new features? Currently I'm thinking it would be best to stay on v1.25 until issues like the fire alarm on power up  are resolved.

Opinions?

Its generally always worth upgrading software when available. I always check what's in an update (for all digital devices ie: windows, apple etc) and go from there. In this case the software update addresses a number of issues and well worth updating for the flex.
