Has anyone else experienced this full blast tone coming from their Flex starting when powered on? This happened to me last week, and after power cycling, it seemed to be working normally, but then today it happened again. After shutting off the downstream equipment, I checked the DC and noticed it was prompting me for updates to all the software and firmware, so I wonder if it’s related. It’s almost like a super loud notification that updates are available.

I ordered an analog attenuator to insert between the Flex and my amp so I can put a ceiling on the max output, because I don’t trust this thing any more.

Yes. It blew out the tweeters on speakers. Wasn't sure what component had caused it at the time. Had the power blip a couple of times in a row and next thing it sounded like my fire alarms were going off. I put the Flex, streamer and television on a UPS to stop them accidentally power cycling when unattended after this happened.

So your incident was triggered by the power being interrupted? That’s interesting, because both my times, the noise occurred right after I turned on power to the unit via a switched surge protector. I always turn off the power supply when I’m not listening to my system, and it’s never been a problem before.

Yes, the power was interrupted a couple of times in succession. I was in the basement when it happened (luckily I was home) and couldn't get upstairs fast enough, while trying to figure out if my smoke alarms were going off, then realizing it was my stereo emitting a loud siren sound.

Since the first report of this issue occurred after the 28 February release of DC Rev 1.1.3 with XMOS Firmware v1.59 and DSP Firmware v1.5, I wonder if the new fire-alarm-on-powerup feature is part of that release. What firmware versions are you guys running?

I am running the most recent releases (that you reference), but the incident happened on Dec 16, 2022, so I was most likely using whatever was current around that time.

I have the same situation as dave.arnold. The 2 times that this happened to me, I was on whatever the previous most recent firmware and software was available. Right after the second incident a few days ago, I updated to the latest version, and I haven't had any problems since. But I want to be sure that the developers actually identify and fix this specific problem so that it never happens again. I don't want to just take my chances that an update fixed this problem inadvertently or as a side effect of other changes.

I had similar issue with one channel and sent the device to the dealer for diagnostic. They were not able to reproduce it so far...

I received a brand new Flex balanced last week. Updated software before placing it in HiFi setup and set crossover settings in template. Connected and fired up with no noise. In fact much quieter than my previous analogue active crossover. I'm only using it as an active crossover for now. I have recycled the Flex many times, changing presets with no problems or noise. I don't use blue tooth, in fact anything I don't use is disabled. I leave my laptop connected to make changes in crossover. I do leave the Flex on all the time unless making changes. It changes presets with music going with no problems. I'm actually over the moon with the sound a huge upgrade from what I had. Looking at Dirac in the future. Waiting to see what becomes of new live version.

Hello two days ago I had this fenomena with my 4 x10 .
Bought  a year ago, never problems . Seems that the flimsy power connector can cause a short power failure.
When this happens it makes a loud alarm like tone but with a higher pitch
Only solution is shake the flimsy connector with low volume until it stops, use tape to fixate the connector and then make a newe connection.
