In order to get Sub woofer connection I upgraded from DDRC 24 to Flex 8 with Dirac. The Flex 8 unit does not sound as good, correction seems flat and dull compared to DDRC24. Used same mike, same room, same measurements. Tried a few times opening the mike spread etc. Is there any reason for the lower performance of the Flex to the DDRC24. I used the same BW crossover filters, same slope.
Any thoughts?

Have you compared the measured response with Dirac applied to the measured response you had before? I suspect you'll find they're different...

A more obvious replacement for the DDRC24 would have been a Flex rather than a Flex Eight. I've honestly not got my head round whether there is a performance trade-off for having eight output channels rather than four but I suspect your issue is more target-curve related than hardware performance.

Thanks for the reply. Needed the Flex 8 since I Bi-amp, four outputs for the mains and one or two for the sub.
I will look at the DDRC24 target curve but I really think i kept it the same. I’ll keep playing.
I did try to import the Dirac DDRC24 measurement file to use on the Flex 8 but it does not allow that.

Yes as you've found its not possible to transfer measurements between devices. Given that Dirac Live uses relative rather than absolute levels it's hard to be sure exactly the same target is being used each time even with a target curve saved. I trust you're using the same version of Dirac Live as you were before? I'm only asking as there has been a change to the default target curve recently.

The best way to be sure things are as they were before is to compare measurements of what you get with DL applied now vs with your DDRC-24.

Thanks for your relies, I am using the same version Dirac Live 3.3.3. I took a closer look at the target curve and noticed some .5 DB differences in a critical area, I changed those and now have a closer sound….your thought on the target is part of the answer.
I also notice in an empty Dirac channel that turning on and off Dirac there is a noticeable loss of definition using the Flex 8. I plan to reconnect the DDRC24 this weekend and try the same with an empty channel.
