Hi I'm trying to figure out if I can use one Flex system or other for my special use-case.

My room create <60hz booming from FR speakers. (REW EQ confirmed)
So I want my SUB to counter the booming using a crossover.

As I have a high quality digital source using USB, COAX, TOSLINK or AES and a premium R2R DAC in my system (all digital inputs). I don't want to insert a  AD'C/DAC after my DAC.
The question is, can I connect COAX digital IN -> USB 2ch OUT & 1 or 2 analog RCA OUT, using lowpass to analog RCA & highpass digital out to my DAC.
Result would be that I can tune both the analog signal to SUB and also PEQ the digital signal before it hits the DAC.

Looking at the Specifications for Flex it should be possible, is it?

On the SHD you get digital and analog out both at the same time.
You can send channel 1&2 digital spdif out highpass filtered and channel 3&4 analog out (xlr and rca - also at same time) lowpass filtered, delayed, dirac etc.

But you have to watch out for the delay of your R2R DAC.
Somewhere in another thread they discussed delay's of DACs when used with the SHD.

I'm a fan of using subwoofers but you could just apply EQ to the main speakers if this appealed?

Yes I could try this, but usually one can pull back on disturbing freq but it's difficult to correct a low response in an octave.
My problem is both a mode around 30-45Hz and a null at 50-60Hz. I can't with small changes to my MLP correct for this.

So I've tested by "less hi-fi" equipment that if I high pass signal from FL speakers 12dB/oct at 80hz the 30-45Hz problem disapear.
Then I added a SUB placed in opposite side of room and set up lowpass 80hz 12dB/oct, and this solved the Null at my MLP giving me a smooth bass response.
All is step by step verified using REWEQ and my ears.

Thanks/Johan

Thanks for this info, I really had difficulties to understand what and what could not be done on the flex platform, the specifications does say:Digital Audio Output Connectivity4 x Output channels
(Post DSP)on USB Audio
But I'll investigate SDH or combining multiple boxes.

Thanks // Johan

A key advantage of using a subwoofer is indeed the freedom to place it somewhere other than where your main speakers are, and is one of the reasons I use one.

An important point about trying to make use of the USB on miniDSPs as an output is that it can't be used to feed a USB DAC. The signal can only be sent back to a computer.
