I currently own the RCA version for Dirac and crossover purposes.

What if, in another scenario, using the same RCA Flex, I just wanted to add Dirac in between my streamer and my DAC (which has USB in), could I simply use the USB port (I guess it is both in and out) of the RCA flex? No need to buy the digital version.

The product info says this:Digital Audio Output Connectivity
RCA version:
4 x Output channels
(Post DSP)on USB Audio

Balanced version:
4 x Output channels
(Post DSP)on USB Audio

Digital version:
4 x Output channels
(Post DSP)on USB Audio and
SPDIF& TOSLINK (duplicated)

Thanks!

In case somebody else has the same question, MiniDSP support informs me that this is not possible because USB uses a host to device model, not a device to device model (which is what I was inquiring about).

It can be done but not in the way you think. miniDSP support is correct that the Flex needs a USB host. If your USB host can capture USB audio from your Flex and re-route that audio to a separate DAC (and account for the clock differences between the Flex and your USB DAC) it will work.

One such approach is described here -> www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.p...ut.19976/post-851178.
