I have a 2x4hd and looking to add a flex into the mix so I can use remote and see display volume. But if I adjust volume on the flex with the remote, would the 2x4hd pick it up and adjust volume also? 

Nvm looks like remote does both but if I hide the 2x4hd then the remote shouldn’t adjust anything on it but the flex. I’m hoping 

My SHD remote can adjust my 2x4 HD so you'd probably find you'd have an issue. I get round the issue by having my 2x4 HD out of sight behind my TV but some tape to cover up the IR receiver would be another option.

Hi, i tried to use tape to cover up the ir receiver on my 4x10 unit, and it did not work. The 4x10 was still able to receive the commands. I tried 3 layers of tape without sucess. Impressive!!!

You're definitely taping over the right place? Maybe try adding some kitchen foil?

Would it work to program the 2x4HD to respond to a old remote that you leave in a drawer somewhere and never use or would it still respond to the minidsp remote still after that?

I use my tv remote to control both 

flex and 2x4hd will learn any IR remote command 

i Have a old Sony tv I use for tv and dsp control 

Where did you find the option to learn any IR command?

In the old software on my DDRC24 I had this option but the new Flex software I cannot learn IR commands, at least I cannot find this option.

Would love to have this option back.

I just came in here to recommend the same IR command, as I've used it in the past on the old software to great effect... but you're right! After updating to the Device Console the option for IR learning is gone. That seems like a rather large oversight, seeing as it's an important feature - allowing you to run two (or more) MiniDSP devices with their own remote settings (imagine having different stacks for different device chains).
