I get click noises with my FLEX8. It is not the source or input. I get with from SPDIF, Toslink and USB, from Sonos connect (tried 2 units) or Laptop running on battery. The clicks are heard when skipping songs on Sonos and when part of a song becomes quiet right after an intense part. It comes from either left or right channel, never in between. If I hear them in a song, they will always be at the SAME spot within that song. Making me think that they happen in the digital domain.

Things I did that did not fix it:
-I have put the FLEX further away from the amp (8 channel Hypex NCore)
-Connected the ground screw...to ground.
-re flashed the firmware (MCU 1.52, DSP: 1.6)

I hope that a firmware will fix this quickly as I have trouble enjoying listening to music on this otherwise awesome set-up.

Thanks for you help.

What cables do you use to connect the Flex 8 to Hypex NCore?

I also run a Flex 8 with Hypex NCore modules but not experiencing what you describe below.

Cheers,

Satefan

Hi Satefan, I have reached out to devteam at miniDSP. They are aware of this issue and said it will be fixed on the next firmware release.

Thanks.  I have experienced popping noises also.  I thought that you were just trying to emulate vinyl playback.

A great track to listen to that makes these popping noises come up all the time is: Poem of Chinese Drum, by Hok-nan Yim.

Thanks for all the feedback we've been receiving from you on this.. It was indeed a hard one to track!
Good news is that the bug is fixed now and you can just upgrade your flex Eight with the latest DC release. It will solve that issue.

Thanks for your patience and have fun!

I was so excite to install this update and finally enjoy my hi-fi system. Unfortunately, while the popping sound has been fixed, a new issue has appeared. The channel 8, which happens to be my right woofer (who gets fed 25 to 100Hz) gets a distorted overtone (way above 100Hz) almost all the time. :-(
Please help!

Same for me but in all channels.
After latest firmware upgrade.
The more deep bass a song has, the more distortion.
There is also distortion in some songs with female voices combined with deep bass.
it’s in the region of several percent distortion.

I have checked every option to rule out possible sources creating this but it’s clearly in the digital domain/firmware

I have experienced the same problems on my MiniDSP flex 8. S.no: 908-1096
After detailed measurements I have identified the problem on all channels.

I experienced the pulses shown in attached document at certain volume settings. It’s a sharp negative pulse with very high frequency, but the real audible issue is the step in level of about 4mV.
Measured on ch5 VS chassis ground. Signal is 20Hz 0.9FS from Audacity. TOSLINK. Volume on MiniDSP is -22dB. Signal amplitude is about144mVAC . The strange thing is that under 78mV and above 174mV the problem  disappears.

See attached document for details with measurements.

I take that back. Firmware is up to date and I still have popping noises in quiet passages / end of track when they fade out. :-(
It has been months since purchase and I still can't fully enjoy my audio setup.
