In did some tests today. After the switch off/on routine, I connected a cheap 5 meter USB cable (about16ft). Worked flawlessly. Tried also different PC's (different brands) and the same results (first everything switched off, plug in cable, and gear switched on). Doesn't matter what cable was used. I also left it running, but no issues where it drops out after a while, unattended. Yes, let's see (or hope) they come up with some sort of FW revision, as the Flex is briljant in what it does (when it works) 😄

I've had some trouble with this. A few days ago it stopped connecting entirely on my Dell laptop. Tried changing cables. Tried two other laptops but that didn't work too well either.

I have three USB ports on this laptop. Earlier today the first one just didn't recognise anything, the second said 'the USB device you have connected is faulty' - but the third one worked fine.

I've found that putting it in 'Standby' and then starting it again sometimes fixes the audio output. I have reinstalled the USB drivers, for about the fourth time, and all is working fine again - for now.

Last couple of days the USB input has been working consistently fine. No problems and everytime I connect to it, it works right away and no dropouts. I am unclear what changed.

I have connected the Flex (through USB) to my Raspberry. Now playing local files, network files, Tidal and Spotify. Works very well and sound is very clean. I really like this setup.

I had similar problems, but thanks to @gargoyle I was able to get the USB output from my laptop working by adding an active USB cable.
Have a look at this thread:
