Hi All,
I have a MiniDSP DDRC-24 and am seriously considering upgrading to a balanced Flex with Dirac.

Can I:
  1. Remotely control input selection, correction filter, and volume control with the Flex (say via an iOS app)?
  2. Somehow take an output from a Flex to feed a headphone amp with headphone correction, but mute the main power amp channels?
  3. Chain / coordinate two Flex devices together so that I can control the overall volume across both, completely (mostly) in synch?
Apologies for asking questions probably already posed.

I vaguely recall that the remote control for the SHD was via the WI-DG device, which an iOS app could control. Is this also the case with the Flex?
For the headphone amp thing, I could I guess daisy chain two Flex or similar devices, one feeding a headphone amp with correction, the other my amps / speakers. It just feels clumsy.
The idea of synching two Flex devices is so I could use one for my Front pair of 2.2 speakers and the other for my 2.0 rear speakers for co-ordinated quadraphonic output from my Mac Mini media server. This is not a deal breaker, just a nice to have option.

Gary.

  1. The Flex comes with its own remote control that provides this functionality (assuming you mean switching between previously defined filters). No phone needed.
  2. If you have to outputs going to a power amp and two going to your headphone amp then yes, you can do this by having one defined 'Preset' for each that you switch between. Note that turning off your power amp would achieve the same as muting the outputs but would save electricity and so be better from an environmental perspective as well as saving you money.
  3. You could get the volumes to match but you may have issues with the signals to each being completely in sync. Exactly what did you have in mind? I suspect there would be a better way to do it...

For the issue with the headphone amplifier, I could probably daisy link two Flex or similar devices, with one of the devices feeding a headphone amplifier with correction and the other feeding my amps or speakers. It simply has a clunky vibe about it.
