Hi MiniDSP!

I'm very interested in the EARS set up. I have a question though.

As I remember from many years ago, the "ideal" headphone response is not flat. I do not remember where to find this anymore, but I'm sure you can.

Is this "ideal" headphone curve built in somewhere?

I think you may be referring to the Harmon Target Response Curve (or other curves like it) ?

Yes, I am. :) I'm wondering what the ideal curves really should be?

I'm not familiar with the Harmon curve specifically, it looks relatively new. I thought there were some that predate it.

"The intent of the HEQ compensation is that, when it is used to measure a "neutral sounding" headphone, the resulting measurement will be approximately flat. It is similar in intent to the "preferred headphone target response" identified by Olive, Welti and McMullin (Ref. 1) but adapted for the EARS."

Thank you. I should have read the EARS manual, which covers somewhat that they are in fact using compensation curves.
